I love the way the Z handles, but I hate feeling every little bump in the road. What's a good aftermarket setup to achieve a smoother ride without sacrificing too much?

its all a matter of personal opinion...if you search the suspension forum then you'll see a lot of reviews from various members and their various setups. i'm also looking for a new setup at the moment. i had the JIC coilovers but they were too stiff for me and i don't want much of a drop. i'm leaning towards hotchkis or tein s-techs.

I got the Hotchkis sport springs and love what they have done for the ride.

After reading the boards and talking to quite a few owners, most have said tires made the biggest difference in ride quality. After changing mine last week, I am shocked at the difference it has made.

At this point it is my opinion that RE040s are perhaps the hardest tires on the planet. They are also quite noisy and not all that great in the rain. Other than being predictable in the dry, I am not sure they have many other redeeming qualities other than already being on the car.

i went through the same problem

way too harsh ride for me, and the suspension would crash over every ridge/pothole in the road

the stock tyres are to blame just as much as the springs and shocks

i fitted the Tanabe NF210 springs - these are progressive vs the stock's linear, and at their peak have the same spring rate at stock, so basically softer than stock right up to max compression

i matched them up to Tokico D-spec shocks, and have them set at 5 turns from max

tyres im running the Yokohama Advan V103 in 19"

and now the ride is bliss, alot more bump absorption, no more crashing, and just overall smoother ride. Throw it into a corner and theres no bodyroll

same here...i got Tokico D-spec adjustables mounted on stock springs...i set the fronts 4 turns from firm and 5 turns in the rears. It's been a smooth ride since last october...love it. i'm running conti-sportcontact IIs...much better than oem tires IMO. The cheapest place to buy the Tokico D-spec is on ebay, but i found out too late and ended up paying over 50$ too much. The jokers wouldn't let me cancel my order...they claimed that it was a special order item. :nunchuk:

thanks for the imput!

What tires do you recommend?

for a smooth ride....if you don't mind paying too much...Michelin pilots.
i got contisportcontacts and they are fantastic...check this out...made in Germany...ordered from tire rack and they all balanced with exactly 3 stick-on leads all at the same locations...unheard of consistency.
