At least where I live, Royal Purple is only available at speed shops. I went back to Mobil 1, 5w-30.

yup, mobil 1 syn is the way to go. ran this in the last 3 cars i 've had (civic si, integra, of course 350z) and ran them all really hard with zero engine problems. Besides, porsche, Corvette, Aston martin, Mercedes-Benz AMG and Viper comes from the factory with Mobil 1.  I'm pretty sure it'll suffice for our cars.  Just my $0.02.

You swiped my old Avatar!!

I talked to a couple guys at a local oil change place and one oil they DID NOT recommend was Castrol GTX or their Syn. They said for years they used it as their house brands and then went to Valvoline. The reason......they said that Castrol buys their oil on the open market and they get it from whomever sells it for the cheapest cost within the specs they specify. They said that each time you open a bottle or drum of the stuff it has a different color each time. The reason being is the region in which it was bought from in the world. Anyway, they said it may be good but they had reservations about it because of the open market issue. Don't know if this is all true but that is why they dropped Castrol.
