Ok guys, my friend and I at work are always talkin' cars, and I can't seem to figure out, by discussion, what would look bad ass without taking away from handling when it comes to tire width, etc.

So to cut to the chase, I wanna put like some 11 or 12" tires in the rear, and maybe some 9.5" tires up front. What are your guys' thoughts on that?

Also, lets have everyone share their tire and wheel setup and post pics so we can see them, I'm very interested, and it would be awesome so I can have a better time trying to figure out what to put on mine since I'm new to all of this. Plus seeing things always helps when you're trying to explain it too.

Is there a reason for these widths, or just because it will look cool? If you're drag racing, I guess they make sense, but if handling is your goal, I'm not so sure. As you increase the difference in front to back width, it will shift the car from understeering (large difference biased to the back) to oversteering (small or no gap). Furthermore, only use the width you actually need. Wider rubber creates more friction (good thing for launching, but it uses up horsepower), and they weigh more (they'll accelerate and decelerate slower). I'm a sucker for 12" slicks on a car that can handle them and actually use them, but buy smart to actually help the car. Also, wider rubber is expensive, and sticky rubber is expensive (and doesn't last as long). If you can get away with buying narrower tires (8.5-9" all around?) you can get better tires if money's an issue.

Yeah a little bit of both actually. But more to just have the tires flush with the fender wells. The stock tires look like they could be a couple inches wider to make them flush with the fender well. Not sure how wide the stock tires are, I'ld have to measure them. I don't think a couple inches added to the back would matter much, but I'm no expert on this kind of stuff, so I dunno. I'm just looking for suggestions, and see how other peeps mods panned out with adding wider tires to the back. Know what I mean?

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and this is my first post.

I am looking to adding new wheels and tires to my 2005 350z Enthusiast coupe, unfortunately I don't know much about wheel offsets are the correct tire sizes I should use.

The first wheel I'm considering is 19" Advan RS. What offset will fit my car the best, this is what is available.

Front 19x9.0 PCD 114.3 Offset 38/29/22
Rear 10x10 PCD 114.3 Offset 35/25/15

The other set of wheel I am considering are 18" Advan RG II

Front 18x8.5 PCD 114.3 Offset 50/31
PCD 100 Offset 48

Rear 18x9.0 PCD 114.3 Offset 45/35/29/22

In addition to what offset I should use, I also need assistance in what tire size I should use for each wheel set up.

What I'm looking for is the wheel flush with the side of the car or as close as possible, I hate seeing all those people driving around with the rims bugging out of the sides, NASTY!! Oh and I also need room to add a big break kit later on.

Thank you all!!!

I run +25 on my fronts (width is 8.5") and i wish it had 5 more mm in the negative direction, so for the 19x9.0" I'd run +22 offset (maybe +29)

For the 19x10.0" back wheel, I'd run the +25

I have a 2003 Track model. I have replaced the rear tires recently and I put 265/40 on. (stock 18 inch rims) I still have 225/45 on the front. I will be replacing them soon and want to put the widest tire I can on the front. What size will fit without affecting the VDC or anything like that?

Second question: Is that the widest tire I can put on the rear without any problems?

It's not width that affects the VDC, it's diameter. To keep the computer happy, the rear tire diameter should be from 1 to 3 % larger than the front (although several people have put the same size tire on all 4 corners with no problems). Rear tire diameter also affects the accuracy of your speedometer.

Are you using the stock Track model rims or have you switched to wider wheels? You don't want to put too wide a tire on the stock wheels. Also, have you lowered the car? That will also affect how wide your tires can be without rubbing.

265/40/18 are fine on your 8.5" wide rears, but that's the widest tire you can safely use on that wheel. For the fronts use a 245/40/18 on your 8" wide front wheels. You will maintain the stagger, and you will improve handling and reduce understeer. It would also be best to stay with the same make and model of tire you have on the back.

okay here is my situation: i just ordered 18x9.5 +12 all around emotion cr kai, i was thinking 245/40-255/40 or 255/40-275/40... wat do u guys think???? thankzzz
275/40 would be awesome....just because.

I have 18x10 with 275/40's on them. They're snug as a bug in the rug.

Dear Tyre Gods,

I'm expecting a set of Work Meisters, 19x9.5 fronts and 19x10.5 rears.

I've had a look and people are running 255/19/35 F and 285/19/35 R without any problems. I'm abit unsure whether they have lowered their cars or rolled their fenders.

I don't want to lower my car or roll the fenders yet, but would like to run that set up. Does anyone for see any problems with running that set up on those wheels?

Thanks super duper Tyre gurus.

Hi friends,
i purchased for my 04 350z, sf winning brembo type wheels, 19 8,5 (25 offset) Front and 19 9,5 (19 offset) Rear.for the front,should i buy 245/35 or 235/35 or 235/40 tyres.275/35 is my final choice for rear.
According to this site http://www.gruppe-s.com/Volk/volksfw.htm my options would be:25 offset front and
19 rear.(brembo brakes).could anyone inform me if i could fit the ones i bought without rolling fenders(no tyres yet)?i fitted them with car on lift without touching floor and i think the rear wheels exceed a litle out of the fender or am i wrong?any opinions are welcomew. thanks a lot for attention,
with respect,

manos
