Hey everyone. I'm new to the forum and have been searching posts to see if any related to my particular problem, but I haven't come across anything yet. The problem I'm having is that my car will just shut off on me. When I try to turn it back on, the engine turns over/cranks but the car will not turn on. It has happened while I was driving and after trying to start it using the key with no luck, I dropped it into gear, dumped the clutch, and bump started it. This worked fine, but the issue happened again. I got in my car the other day to turn it on and I am having the same issue: engine turning over, but the car won't start. If anyone has had a similar problem or can shed some light on the issue, it would be much appreciated.

Sounds like the battery or alternator.

The car should still run if you disconnect the battery after starting it. This is one way to check the alternator.

Cold cranking amps on the battery should be around or over 800amps.

Another thing it could be is the throttle body. Some people have had issues with there's on this forum. Check it out for symptoms.

Is the check engine light on? If so, what codes are flashing?

Or another aftermarket alarm or immobilizer issue? OP - are you the original owner? How long have had the car? What mods are on it? And as Tanabe asked, any SES or other lights? It's a real shot in the dark without some more details.
