So here it is, the question most women (or spouses) have on their minds, and the answer most spouses don’t like. Is the car that important to you?

1. I spend at least 1.5 hours detailing the Z per week. That is just regular, basic stuff like washing, drying, vacuuming, etc. This does not include waxing or buffing or removing swirl marks, scratches, etc.

2. I always look back over my shoulder when I park the Z and walk away from it. I take note of its beauty, color, location, and the cars parked next to it or near it.

3. I usually do a visual inspection when I return to the car (in public) to see if any type of damage is apparent (keying, door dings, bird poop).

4. I like to take scenic routes to give my car maximum exposure to onlookers. I also cruise slowly by buildings with reflective glass to see how the Z looks from the outside driving by.

5. When driving, I amuse myself by trying to catch the eye of a curious onlooker. If I do catch them, I will smile and wave or give a thumbs up to anyone in a nice, respectable car (i.e. another sportscar or muscle car).

6. I spend a lot of time online ‘window’ shopping for the car, and I consider people on forums as long, lost brothers who know how I feel and think about cars in general.

7. I need therapy. :goodtimes:

I never thought so, but others might interject by suggesting it. I threw that in as bone to admit sanity...for the doubters, you know.

So Terri, how does your hubby feel about you spending a majority of the day with the Z? I think my wife would flip! Unless, of course, I was entering a serious car contest for prizes, then I think she might understand, as long as I interspersed some time with the family.

Richard, as for valet parking, only once did I do that and it was for a special occasion (a date w/wifey) and the lot was full. It was cold out, and she had on a skirt. Had to give in and be considerate. Had to give it to the kids who parked my car, though. The guy drove it, but the girl he was working with made him park it right in front of the restaurant in a handicap spot and put cones around it. I thought that was cool. Gave them a decent tip for that one.

I should add to the list, but I think it's funny that friends and coworkers now seek me out to tell me they saw a Z. :lmfao: The revolution begins...mauahahahahahaha!

I clean my garage and make sure I don't track anything into the car. Next thing I know, I'm going to have a floor mat outside the car to brush my shoes.

The tape thing is a cool idea!

You're not alone, my friend. But my wife expects it and it doesn't phase her. In fact, sometimes she'll point it out to me. I think I'm going to let her drive it soon and see what kind of comments she gets.

Busted! As I walked away from my Z this morning, I saw something on my tire that looked out of place. So as I approached, my heart began to sink. I screamed like a school girl in a haunted house when I saw the head of a big ass screw plugged into my tire. That makes 2 now, 1 in each front tire. Sabatoge? I hope not.

:rolf2: Sorry Solo, but be prepared to share that money!

Today I'm detailing the Z, then noticed that I was mesmerized by the smoooooothness of the the surface as I was stroking her with a clean MF towel... :ahhh:

:lmfao: Pam, your topic reminded of an older thread so I dug it up and merged it. Thanks! :yourock:

BTW, this is the first car I've ever owned that now has a car cover. :irock:

Not sure if this has been covered or mentioned, but I get into the car with my back end first, tap my shoes together a few times to get rid of any dirt, then swing my legs into the car. It keeps the floormat clean, and from what I hear is good for your back when one enters the car like that.

:rolf2: I live a block away from an elementary school. Talk about rubbernecking and yelling out how cool the car is... :irock:

I also live on a popular street that gets a lot of cool car traffic. They rev, honk, etc. It's all good.

Yep, I love her. I washed her today and brought her to work. Then I parked away from everybody. Hours later, I went back out when the lot was empty just to admire the colors. PPW rocks!

"It's a Z thing."

That's what I told some local buddies of mine who are into the import scene. They came over to hang out and watch me wash the Z. I had her on jack stands, took off the wheels to wash them really well, then cleaned the inside of the wheel wells including the brake and suspension components. They couldn't believe I was that fanatical about it.

What can I say? It's a Z thing.
