windows and central locking problems

Hi,

I recently had a problem with my windows not working at all, as in not coming up or down. is this a fuse issue or is the window motor dead. The central locking doesnt work when I use the lock button from the inside, but when i use the remote it works.

Window problem is probably a motor issue. Thy thumping the bottom of the insidde of the door with your fist while holding the window up button up to see if the window rises. If it does, then its a window motor problem. I've replaced my drivers side twice and passangers side motor once so far.

Your central locking from inside the car will not lock the drivers door, but will lock the passanger door and hatch. If this your problem, then everything is normal.

Terence,

When you open the doors, do the windows drop down about 1/4 inch? If so, your motors are good. You can also test the motors by putting your key in the exterior door lock on the driver side and holding it in the unlock position. The windows should both open.

If both motors work, the problem may be in the BCM, since both power window and locking functions go through it.
Holding the unlock button on your key fob will also roll the windows down. But holding the key in the door in the lock position is the only way to roll them up from outside the car.
i think the issue might be more than just the window motor, my electric seats are not working either. The windows are not coming down 1/4 inch when i open and close doors too

Tried that with my 03 Z and nothing happened =(

As in holding unlock to roll the windows down. Does it not work on the 03 model?
**** nissan, 3 hours of labour charged and they couldnt find the problem =[
So, your windows don't do down a bit when you open the doors? Or when you use the key fob or key in the lock to roll them down? I'd say that it is either a motor issue or a BCM issue. Most likely a motor issue. Have you tried thumping the door while holding the switch to see if you can get them to move? The motor brushes wear out and no longer make good contact so the motor won't operate. If you thump on the door, they will temporarily make contact allowing the window motor to operate for a second.

Seat don't work at all? I think that the seats are independent of the BCM so I don't think that that is your issue. Seat switches may be bad. I know some owners have had this issue.

edit: The power function of the seat is run through the BCM. That could be your issue. Also may be a fuse or a switch. The seat heaters are independent of the BCM, they still work correct?

Lock problem sounds like an issue with the door switch since the BCM is still sending a signal to unlock and lock the doors when the fob is used.

Didn't know this - I thought my driver's was busted when I used while on the weekend. Nice to know I can still be car-jacked.
i would say its the BCM but nissan still has my car, The seat heaters do work but the moving of the seats do not. The central locking doesnt lock the passenger side either.
nissan tested all the motors and they sed they are working just fine but they are not winding the windows up and down, they dont know why the doors will not work.
Holding the unlock on AU cars does not work. The US have a different system in their cars and is covered in the owners manual from memory

Rizk is corect - while our American friends mean good with their input, their key fobs are different to ours and we don't have some of the functions the US cars have as standard, such as raising the windows with the fob.

Good luck getting your problem sorted Tanny.
got car back from nissan for 2nd time today, they said its not the bcm and all motors seem to be working out fine. Going to get the alarm disconnected as it could be mixing up the signals.
My passenger window sometimes rolls down like 10cm automatically.

It happens when i have the window down and i pull on the window button up to engage the automatic mode and i let it go to let it roll up automatically instead of tapping it.

Sometimes, less often then actually closing, it rolls down 10cm on its own??

To roll it up when this happens i just pull on the button till its all the way up and i let it go when the window closes completely.

Anyone get this problem?

Not sure if this started happening after i got an alarm installed, **** annoying when it happens.

If the wires to the window motor are disconnected/unclipped you may need to re set the software that controls the automatic window drop down/up when the door is opened & closed. If the alarm installers needed to access the inside of your doors they may have disconnected the wires to make it easier to remove the inner door skin for access.

(from the manual) Here is how to reset:

1. Remove the plastic inner door trim. Find the round black plastic patch that covers the access whole (in the inner door skin) to the reset button on the window motor & remove the patch.
2. With the door open, lift up & HOLD the power window switch until the door glass is fully up. Now release the switch.
3. Get inside the vehicle & FULLY close the door. Be careful the glass doesn't hit on the roof panel.
4. Press & HOLD in the reset button on the side of the window motor. While holding the reset button in, fully press down & HOLD, the power window switch until the glass is fully down. (pause a few seconds & you will hear the system click).
5. Release the rest button. Now FULLY lift up & HOLD the power window switch until the glass is fully up. Pause & release.
6. Open the door. The glass should now do its usual 20 mm drop.

CAUTION

Do NOT use the Auto function during the above.
Do not release the reset button until the glass is fully down.

the alarm guy came over today and found that the bcm fuse in the engine had been shorted. He soldered the joins and it blew again. Will go get a new fuse. If it blows will have to check what is causing it. Anyone have suggestions?
Good afternoon buddy I seem to have the same issue you had with your 350z about windows not working and central locking did you ever find the cause of this cannot find it anywhere
