the wind deflector on my windshield wiper broke off

apparently, you need to replace the ENTIRE wiper at a cost of R200

1. is it necessary to have the wind deflector? (apparently it keeps the wiper in position at high speeds)

2. is it cost-effective? i.e. worth it?

3. can it be stuck onto the wiper?

I'm sure you can find some type of silicone to get it back on there if you wanted to.

Otherwise, I think you will be fine without it. How did it break off?

flock of birds flew into my car unexpectedly - i think thats how it broke, else, some malicious idiot!

anyhow, clips attaching wind deflector to wiper seem very flimsy - service manager said they are prone to break very easily.

respondent on another site said the wind deflectors are not on US spec cars and therefore not really necessary. is this true?
