Which Model To Get

4456 Views 37 Replies 24 Participants Last post by Zxrage
Hello everyone!! I am either deciding on getting the enthusiast since it has the TCS and limited slip differential. I know the model above it also has the VDC, but i wanted to know what your opinions are?
Thanks

I had to get the touring, the leather seats, and the heated bum for the winter. It gets a mite chilly here in Pgh! I really don't slide around on the leather at all....the seat fits me like a glove!
Yeah, either go with an Enthusiast or a Performance. Basically it comes down to 17" wheels and no VDC vs 18" wheels and VDC. I personally like the 17s better than the 18s and didn't care for VDC, so I got an Enthuiast.
I'm want a new 2004 enthusiast have they corrected the front tire problems. My wife is leaning towards the RX-8. Please let me know if the probelms have been corrected so I can convince her the z is the car for us.
I don't know if I've heard of any 2004.5 models with the problem. And as far as the RX-8 goes, tire problems are minor compared to engine problems.
I have changed my position on this question. I have a lot of experience modding my Track model. If I had it to do over again, I would definitely get a Base model. The viscous limited slip differential in the other 4 models doesn't do much, so why spend the money for it. I think you can get a new Base at less than $27,000 and it has the same engine, gearbox, clutch, suspension and great looks as the other models, the same great cloths seats of all the other models (except Touring has leather) and the same brakes as all the other models (except Track has Brembos).

Add the Nismo limited slip diff, a good brake kit, the Nismo 5-spoke 18" forged alloys and good competition tires, and the little factory trunk spoiler, and you have a car that is SUPERIOR to a Track model for about $500 to $1,000 less than the Track, and you can sell the stock wheels and tires to recover a little more money. Then you can start the rest of your modding with a few extra bucks in your pocket.

On the other hand, if you are leaving the car bone stock, go with either the Performance (best value with 18" wheels) or the Track (most expensive for all out handling and braking).

End of story.

I went with a touring roadster and love it. I don't have any problem with the leather seats. Between the seatbelts and the bucket seats there is no where to slide.
How about this model...

How much does that one go for?
I think she told me i'd have to be the last guy on earth, so that costs a pretty penny....

I got the base model and am using the money I saved for an aftermarket clutch-type LSD. I really didn't want the VDC or TCS cutting out my fun, since I bought the car to drive hard. Don't really need heated seats here in Hawaii either.

I'd be her enthusiast anyday; i'd like to get on her track ; i'd take a touring of her; i'd like to get to home base with her; and last but not least, i bet she'd do a great performance . Okay i'm done

I originally wanted an enthusiast, but the VDC has saved my ass so many times I am thankful I went with the performance. I sometimes wish I had gone with the track model, but I swapped my wheels already and will be doing a brake upgrade soon so that is irrelevant

My thoughts exactly, I replaced everthing that I would had to pay more for if I got a track model instead of the performance model. So I would say go for the performance model because of the VDC, stock 18" wheels, and tire pressure sensors, and HIDs.
