OK. I finally got my clicking seat fixed. YAY!

I STILL have a BIG problem with my gas not wanting to fill up.

I have tried maybe 6 different stations.

three Exxons
one HEB
one Race Track
one Diamond Shamrock

Thats all thats near my house!

After maybe 10 fillups, not ONCE can I get it to fill right! I took it to the dealer and he filled it at a Rudy' gas station and said he had no problems. I doubt it. So yesterday with the 1.99 93 octane I went to go fill up and it simply would NOT take gas. DAMNIT.

And now... to make things worse, I am developing a grind in 6th gear.

The grind only occurs if I shift from 1,2,3,or 4 at >3k RPM into 6th (WITH the clutch FULLY depressed). If I shift frrom 5th into 6th it wont grind. Often I will accelerate rapidly (say to 60MPH) in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and then hit 60 MPH and shift straight to 6th gear to cruise (as I like to accelerate, but no need to speed). I am being a bit lazy by skipping 4th and 5th but this is why I have a standard!

Now there is no way you can tell me I HAVE to enter 4th and 5th gear before 6th. But I have a feeling the Service Tech may try. What argument should I give him? Any TSBs on tranny grinding for an 04? Should I hold out a few months and live with grinding on a brand new 30k$ car before I get it fixed??

I AM taking it in to get the tank fixed, I cant take it any more, so I figure I will get the tranny fixed/replaced as well.

I have 2600 miles on it.

Despite these three problems, I freaking LOVE my Z, and these are not (well maybe the tranny) major probnlems.

Advice?

This happened to me only once. I only got half a tank. It's the nozzle at the station. I usually place the nozzle as flush to the opening as possible.

Upside down does nothing. I have tried from EVERY angle. I spent 15 minutes yesterday and got in 3 gallons before I gave up. I have not had one success at the pump yet.

But what about the grinding gear? Anyone else have this problem? Does everyone here shift through 4th and 5th before 6th no matter what?

Shifting from 4th to 6th shouldn't cause any gear grinding.. I do that all the time without any problems. I would definitely have them look at that becuase that is a problem, no matter what the nissan guy says.

Maybe you should just print out that halloween picture and bring it to the guy!

That halloween picture is a plan :D

OK well Im going to give the tech a call. I hate dealign with them. Sigh.

Called him now...

hes said the synchros havent slowed down in 6th and thats why I get a slight grinding and its normal.

I dunno... I mean, I guess I can change my driving habits. I still need the gas tank fixed, but does anyone else go from 3 or 4th to 6th gear, and if so, does it grind some?

Do I need to go to 5th first from now on? ANy transmission experts here know? To be honest, I hope the tech guy is right, I hate having to take the car to service. Its a PITA

By the way, for testing, I tried from 1st 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th. And it grinds worse from lower gears... so maybe its just not supposed to do it.

But 1st to 5th doesnt grind.... which is wierd...

They might have to replace your gas tank. We had a customer with the same problem so we called Nissan and that was their answer.

Thanks... was this on an 04? I know it occured on 03s...

I mean. One way or another it IS an issue. And its bad.

I am not sure about the transmission, I may just have to alter how I drive...
