A Vortech dealer will probably answer your questions best, but I'm assuming that you'll have to buy a new belt for the larger pulley. You'll also want to retune the car. Maybe someone local to you is an authorized Vortech distributor or tech.

I know for a FACT that they sell 7lb and 9lb pulleys. Are you sure the one in your kit is not the 9lb pulley? If not you might want to call them back. There has been several people order their kit with the 9lb pulley.

Is it supposed to come with the 9 or is it a mistake when they send it to you?

Does anyone know the formula for calculating the size pulley for a specific psi?

How do I know which one will work for me?
I thought the pulley determined psi not aftermarket parts.

I believe when you get the 3.33 pulley it voids the warrenty.

Vortech does not rate their pulleys by boost. Quite simply they use many parts in multiple applications. In the case of the Z, the stock Vortech pulley size is 3.33". Most have been getting a peak of about 7.5lbs of boost with this pulley. Though, some have hit higher (mine peaks at 9.5lbs with the 3.33" pulley, but I think mine is the extreme case).

The next size down is a 3.12" pulley and it is, in general, good for about 1.5lbs more of boost.

If you're really adventurous, you can go to the 2.87" pulley like some others have. Requires very precise tuning as you are pushing way more boost than the kit is designed for at that point. It can be done, just be sure to recruit a good tuner.
