From what I learned so far.
Philips makes the stock HIDS. Our color temp is around 4200. To get the blue tint you have to go up in the range. 6000 is the highest to go because as you go up the color gets better but the brightness goes down. The 6000K bulbs are around 225 shipped.

So is it a simple bulb switch? What's pricing like on the blue, but not quite 6000 bulbs?

I actually put an entire HID system in my car. Nismokid did the same also. We have both have the base model and they dont come with HID's. We both have the Brightstar 5000k. It is white with a tint of blue in it.

If you already have the HIDs its a simple bulb swap. They come in 4200, 5000, 6000, and 10000. Prices range from 50 to 300 per bulb

For upgrading the stock HIDs that come with the car, I wasn't aware that it was a simple bulb swap to go from 4200 to 6000, I thought that you also have to replace the ballast for the bulbs as well to provide more power for the higher number bulb? If that is the case than I can upgrade my bulbs for just the cost of replacing them.......Sweet!! I am just posting my thoughts to make sure that I am not wrong on this situation.

I have the base model too and am wondering for those who have upgraded, How much did it cost and is it worth it? I think that the stock lights are a bit dim and would like something that would make it a little easier to see at night.

It is by far worth the switch. The car looks 10x better at night and gives off much more light that the stock halogens. I paid $400 for my kit from importhookup.com but they no longer are able to sell them by law

Not all bulbs will fit the harness the Z has. You might have to buy one of those cables that has a different female plug that will fit the new bulb. Also, the majority of 6000k bulbs branded as Philips or someother big brand (Hella), are rip offs made in some Asian factory. Those companies don't make bulbs with that high of kelvin temperatures because they know it causes too much glare. The factory blue look (i.e. BMW and Audi) comes from the optics of the headlight housing and not the kelvin temp (they're all about 4200k like the Z, which gives the highest light intensity).

NismoKid is absolutely right. 4300K is what they call "Daylight Light" and it gives the best illumination. The blue and purple tint comes off from the projector.

For those with stock HID's or those base models that want it check out www.misterjung.com --- I bought some 7000K bulbs from there, I can honestly say I did lose a little bit of light, but no where near what everybody said it would be be, they still illuminate the road well. My headlights look crazy at night, def worth it imo. I picked them up locally for $120 comes with a 1 1/2 year warranty I believe...
