Perhaps we should have results scanned in, like the dyno results?

Sure, but I don't think anyone here is questioning the times ... afterall, there's not many of us here and we all know each other reasonably well.

Still, if you got them scanned, then post them.

Yes David.

I wasn't suggesting anything otherwise..just keeping out any B.S. artists that we don't know, ...a la the dyno list...

I'm not sure about the drag-strip that you went to, but at Calder the terminal-velocity is calculated over the last 60'. Therefore, what you see is the 'average' over the last 60'. and not exactly the terminal-velocity as such. It's about 2kph off from what I worked out. Not a huge difference, but still good to know when analizing these things.

probably it

Well I finally made it to the drags today. It's the 1st time I've ever been so my reaction times for the first few runs were terrible. Anyway, my times were super consistent for the 5 runs

Run 1 14.452 60' time 2.370
Run 2 14.368 60' time 2.287
Run 3 14.463 60' time 2.333
Run 4 14.487 60' time 2.365
Run 5 14.517 60' time 2.400

Yes he was there. I bet you thought we'd never get around to running!!!!!

He only managed 2 runs (had to go to sons birthday party... bummer!!), and like me it was his first time ever at the drags. We ran against each other both times, with one win each. His best time was a 14.114 (when I ran my 14.368), his other run was a 14.3ish, but my reaction time was about .3 better which enabled me to win.

Was interesting comparing times as I was always able to outlaunch him and beat him to 1000' but from then on the power of the Clubbie really kicks in and the **** thing just flies from then on. Would be interesting over 1km, I reckon he'd beat me by a good couple of seconds.

The Tickford club had a good turnout on the day as well with the XR8's and XR6 turbo's running at about 14.4 pace as well and the GT's running at about 14.2

I haven't got the sheets with me at the moment, but if you like I'll give you the comparo's of me and the clubbie on the split time's up to 1,000' as I know you have a special interest in the clubbie's times.

Thanks for all the info and I would love to see/hear about the split times for both cars. Also you're both automatics, right?

Here's the splits...

Thanks for that. Interesting that your trap-speed was around 156 - 157kph. Lionking in his auto traps at 161 - 162kph. Was there a head-wind that day/night? Did you shift manualy, or left it in auto?

I left it on full auto for all my runs, the weather was very calm and about 20 degrees, here's the link to the bureau for the day http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/dwo/200506/h...56.200506.shtml

I must admit that after looking at the times together like that I was surprised that my second run wasn't quicker. I was up by .1 at 1000' and only managed to maintain that for the rest of the journey and had a lower terminal speed. Maybe I was just concentrating on the big Red thing in the other lane that was fast approaching from 660' onwards!!!!

Looking at the other times posted I would have thought the secret to a higher top speed would be in getting a faster 60' time which it would appear I should be able to go at least .1 of a second faster than I was?

I know that you're on a different track to us, so it's hard to campate, but LK was getting consistant 2.0 60' times. He was going for low 2.0s on his good runs. How did you launch? LK torque-stalled the auto to about 2,500rpm if I rtememebr correctly. Also LK was able to get about 2mph of extra trap-speed by manualy shifting (as close as posisble to) 7,000rpm.

I was torquing it up to around 2 - 2,500. It was hard to know exactly as I was concentrating on the lights more

Yea, I don't really know exactly either. I was on full brakes and about half throttle. Had revs up as high as it would go. Off the brakes and onto full throttle on the yellow - had pretty good success keeping traction most runs with this technique. 60' times all close to 2 secs.

You stock or modded up? 13.4 would be pretty quick for stock. Your 60' time is pretty fast as well.

Allen has just a catback exhaust, perhaps Allen can list this mods for us. It's the 35th Ann. M6 model, this would make Allen's car the fastest N/A in AUS.

Cheers

Is that on road tyres, or 'sticky' tyres? The reason I ask is becasue of your 60' time. When we were there (2x), noone with a manual could not get any better than 2.2sec 60' time out on road tyres.

If that is on road tyres then that is an awesome time ... 13.7sec is the quickest time I can imagine getting on road tyres.
