are you being serious? take it to nissan and tell them to give you the new 008 transmission
Wow...definitely not a DIY.

Take it to Nissan!
yeah...first of all, line up an alternate source of transportation for at least a week. Then go to your closest Nissan dealer. Ask for the service manager, turn around, drop your pants and bend over. I've had it with crappy transmissions. I can't believe that Nissan does not have a solution to this HUGE tranny problem.
.... tranny #2 died last night. I was in 5th gear, went to downshift into 4th (interstate, was going to pass) and I guess the synchros locked up. Now my car is stuck in 5th gear, and shifter is in the neutral position, and it is waiting at the dealer for a new tranny (which was ordered). Actually, it was ordered yesterday morning for making a "whining" noise which I had them check while I was there getting the fuel line recall done. I have a 6MT 2003 touring model. Original tranny was replaced after 23k miles because of grinding while shifting to 3rd gear. This tranny has only 10k miles on it, was replaced about 1 year ago and is "supposedly" the new BEEFIER tranny. :(

I love my car, I don't wanna give it up. But ****... I just want a good transmission before my warranty goes away. I am almost at 34k miles now.

 at least it happened before you hit 36k. I had my original tranny replaced at 21k, I am now at 40k and haven't had any problems yet *knock on wood*
I'm sure that most of the people responding to this are people who have had tranny problems. But, is this really that common? how did I not hear anything about it before I bought my car?
...I swear, I researched.

somebody chime in with good things to say.

if it is that huge of a problem shouldn't there be a recall or something?
