Hey guys.

Given that the Christmas / New Years' period is past us, and it was nice to meet everyone at the APS Tech Day yesteday, I was wondering if people were interested in arranging a bit of a drive one weekend?

Depending on the mood of everyone we could either run a cruise (something sedate and obeying the letter of the law) or a run (where we pick up the pace, give our cars a chance to stretch their legs and enjoy their intended purpose, and obey the spirit of the law instead).

It'll give us another chance to get together, have a look at each others' cars, and go for a ride in cars with mods that we might be considering purchasing.

The last cruise we had pre-forum migration turned out well, and we had a nice run up the Putty Road to Singleton. Everyone had fun, and a lot of guys got to give the car a bit more stick and find out why we all put up with a relatively crashy ride, impractical storage compartment, and bad rear quarter vision.

I don't have a particular route in mind, so post suggestions as well.

I'm very keen on a cruise, I'm also thinking about going to a track like eastern creek or wakefield park to push my car to it's limits (and the driver).

Well if you are after a track day, the Skyline club are running one on 27/2 at Oran Park for $150...we had our zed out at the last one, it was great fun....taking a boxster under brakes....keeping pace with the ex gbison r31 skylines in the corners :D

We would be in for a cruise depending on date, but not a run.

In for a cruise! Name the date and we can plan for it.

Track days we can run separately as they come and people get on board. I'd prefer to do it in winter when the ambient temperatures are lower.

If you want to do an Eastern Creek day, you need to either find a car club that's running one or get a CAMS L2S license. They don't have an open practice day.

Wakefield Park is a bit better, since you can just sign up for one of their licenses.

In for a cruise. One way to meet some new people.

Have a mate with a worked Mini Cooper S who does a number of cruises with an unofficial Mini Club. He has indicated that they would be keen for a possible combined run ....

What do you guys think ?

I don't have a problem with it, as long as it stays small. I don't want to run a large group, since those kinds of drives either fragment or have incidents. How does everyone else feel?

The other thing is that, given the current public and police scrutiny of car enthusiasts, I'd like to keep the information here as general as possible. Feel free to post suggestions for routes etc, but the only concrete information posted in the forum will be the start time and location.

We can work out when we gather where we're going, and so if we do decide to get into the driving spirit we don't find the uniformed revenue raisers camping out in the middle of our route.

Not interested in a mini and 350z combined cruise!

I'm a biggoted 350z fan :p!!!!

As scathing said...keep it small. Once you get too many and you lose poeple through lights and roundabouts etc... it all goes down the tubes imho.

You start having people follow instructions to the locations vs cruising with each other.

My preference is for just a 350Z cruise, rather than involving other car makes. Don't get me wrong, I love meeting up with other car enthusiasts and learning about their cars. What I want to avoid however is the attention that half a dozen 350Z' s and half a dozen Mini's would command. A meet and greet session between 350Z and Mini owners is a better idea than a combined cruise.

OK, I'm back from Cairns and looking forward to a good drive. We should probably try to set something in stone so people can start planning.

I'm good for most of this month except on the 18th, and after that I should be right.

If anyone has suggestions for when they'd like to go for a 350Z-only drive, please post them up.

If people want a quick drive and go home, then I suggest we do the Old Pacific Hwy.

However, if you want to make a longer day of it, then we could do the twisty run from Wollongong to Bowral via Robertson. I've only ever done this run once before in a company mule Magna and I did it downhill from Robertson to Wollongong. Would prefer to do it uphill though as the decline is fairly steep and we would otherwise spend most of the time on the brakes - not as much fun as spending that time on the accelerator.

Just pick a day Scathing otherwise we will talk about this for a month and not do it. And to be honest, if just you and I were the only takers, I'd still do the run.

Im in Wollongong, and my brother has Z as well, if your gonna do gong robertson run id be up for it, as would my bro. We could have early morning snack in gong then go up the robertson for lunch, there is a very famous cake shop up there...

.. oh and one more thing, with Macquare pass being very popular with drivers of "sporty cars" there is a good chance that there will be a cop hiding somewhere.... usually on Motorbike.

I've done Mac Pass a couple of times, in day and night, and I've never had issues with the uniformed revenue raisers.

I have had issues with trucks, 4WDs, and Commodores trundling up and down that road at a snail's pace, though.

I'm all for Robertson's pie, though.

The thing is, most of the good roads will be policed, especially on the weekends. In my experience, as long as we behave ourselves out in the open and only really squeeze it out in the middle of nowhere and don't do anything to terrorise other road users, we should be OK.

Anyway, if anyone has a suggestion for a date and meet-up point I'd love to hear it.

G, ive got ticketed about 10 days aggo right in the middle of those bends.. 0-15 over. $100.. I was 8Kmh over.. jeerk, once beore i got pulled again for something like 6-7 Kmh over, but he let me off.

Anyways, meeting place could be the lighthouse, lots of park space easy to find.. from there, either go for little snack/drink.. or drive straight for robertson.. Only thing is to set the date and get atleast few people to confirm. Counting you Scathing, KY350 ,me and my brother, thats 4 Z so far.. 7-8 would be nice.

We would definately have to meet up early eg 7pm and we may miss the cops. However, the pass is so twisty that if we're unlucky enough to get done, it should be a low cost ticket as opposed to loose your licence / park you car on the side of the road / get into the back of the paddy wagon / go directly to jail do not pass go do not collect $200 as could have been the case along Putty Rd.
