i added a planum to the engine. (I think that is how you spell it) but ever since i did the cold air intake, the planum and the high flow cads my strut bar doesnt fit!! I know of other people who have done the same and more to their cars but their strut bar is ok. Is it because I have a 6mt and the others have a 5at? Another question should I purchase an after market bar? What the mechanic want to do to my bar is heat is and take out the small curve in the bar to make it fit however, i was told that when metal is heated it weakens it. I dont want to be driving the car then next thing the dam n bar flies out!!! I know that is a little extreme but HELP!!!!

What kind of plenum did you get? If it's Kinetix, then you might need spacers for the strut bar end brackets. If it's the Crawford plenum, then you need a new bar for sure.

Don't let that mechanic do anything! You're on the right track by consulting the boards first.

You mean your shop bent it or the bend in it is to fit your z? If your shop bent it I guess I'd buy another one. If you haven't done anything to it see about the spacers Smooth mentioned....he might be able to direct you to the place to get it. Spacers will raise it up a tiny bit to clear the plenum....I don't know of another strut brace that you can use w/ the kinetix....V4? Or did you get the new one???

well i guess we already tried the spacers, and the washers thing, but the bar would not fit at all

i guess now with the heating and bending of the bar....it will hopefuly.
if not ..i saw a JIC bar on goingdeep's car.
any info on how to get one like that...i think that will solve all the problem.

or Kshep can give you hios for free ....lol

The stock bar can also be "bent" with tension. Basically, with the bar installed, you expand it using the built-in adjustability. When it expands, it bows in the middle. The bar may have originally been "shrunk" and hence the bow is lower causing a clearance issue. Try doing that if the bar is not already destroyed.

If it is destroyed, buy one from someone like Kshep. Many people have their stock bar just sitting around. I do, but mine is not for sale at this time.

Good luck.

Get the Stillen strut bar that they designed to work in conjunction with their supercharger kits. Great looking bar with dimple die rigidity. It mounts in the stock location and wraps around the front of the engine.

I definately wouldn't use the bar that was heated and bent.

My stock OEM strut too used to rub & vibrate right after the plenum install. You can adjust the nut on the left of the OEM strut to curve it up or down until it has enough clearance over the plenum, but not too much that it will rub on the hood. Put clay balls on the highest point of the strut & close the hood to check that it has enough clearance & will not rub. You will still need the washer as well. It will take some trial & error until you find the right combination of washers & strut adjustment. Also, remember that the front or back of strut support may need more washers in order to tilt the strut away from plenum. Both struts below needed this adjustment & washers as well, but it did finally fit & no vibration...just the nice growl of the plenum!!!! The Cusco Strut bar with washers worked with my Kinetix V4 too.
