about 6 months after buying the car and still used to the keyless system of my previous car(lancer EX), i locked the keys in, so i gave pop a call and got him to bring me the spare set. feeling bad for making him cross town to get me my keys back, i let him drive the Z back home (he asked, couldn't say no). almost home, he is in front of me on the Z and im driving his pathfinder. he enters a tiny roundabout way too fast for his skill (around 50mph) and on the way out after the flick of the body roll, he steeped on the gas, spun out and climbed the curb(which has soft sand on the other side). unfortunately the curb had a 90 degree angle retraction and that caught the front left wheel. he ended up sitting on the curb with the wheels on the air with the front wheels pointing inwards, like a cross-eyed cat kinda look.

it also helped the crash that its a base model, so no traction control.

the damage:
-front bumper cracked
-side skirts cracked
-front left wheel cracked and chipped
-front left tyre ripped
-suspension arms on the left side both cracked
-springs and shockers on left and right damaged
-steering bar bent
-a small replaceable frame that holds the headlight was bent too.
-steering column snapped

its all ben fixed now, and I ended up with a brand new front suspension all around, new rims, new body parts and new paint-job, but heck that was a nightmare of a night, lucky the frame was intact (laser alignment said its bent at 0.2 degrees to one side, but the man at the workshop told me thats normal even from daily usage and really, the car felt even better after the episode). the most frustrating thing was the cops. they eyeballed me all the time, as if dad came to cover up my f**k up, lol.

now i see how well engineered the car is, allowing all the replaceable components to break before damage can be done to the frame. thanks nissan engineers!
