Speaker Upgrade Question..

1617 Views 5 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  stu46
I was testing something out the other night, and I faded the front speakers out to hear the rears - they sound like crap! Low and tinny, it seems like 90% of the sound comes from the front speakers!

So I was wondering, if I swap out the stock speakers for a set of Infinity's (I'm thinking Kappas or Reference), will the rears do their job, or does the car just have some sort of weird bias towards the front speakers making all of the noise?

Will I hear a difference with aftermarket speakers (I have an Alpine CDA9820XM HU)?

Before I just go and do it, who here has swapped out their speakers and what were your impressions??

Thanks!

If it's just for music, the rears are not recommended. Here's my analogy i use everytime. At a live performance either concert/bar, are there ever speakers behind you? Always in front.

By doing this, you can use the money you were going to spend on the rears and buy better components up front or a better amp etc. Upgrading the components will drasticaly improve the sound. Infinity brand tend to be very harsh. I know of a few people that set the crossover to -4. Overall, very good. A lot of people on the 350z boards like them.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
My brother has a set of Infinity and it makes my ears hurt. How much were you looking to spend? Being a musician also, I didn't like the fact that I wouldn't hear certain sounds in the music.
