I have an Alpine 9835 and just go Sirius installed today. The antenna is inside the RSTB as many people have done. However, the sound of the Sirius compared to FM and CD sounds a bit muffled. Is this just me or does anyone else think Sirius sounds a bit weird? Could it be the placement of the antenna?

OK after some more testing, it seems like all the stations sound pretty good except for one. And it happens to be the one I listen to most. But muffled maybe was the wrong description. The Sirius volume is lower than CD. That's what I was trying to say. It's good to hear that others are experiencing this too. Thanks guys/gals! BTW Sirius rocks..

So you guys like Sirius and the channel selection? We are considering getting it in the Audi since it's pre-wired for satellite radio and has the antenna and everything. Also, question for you guys (glad you started this thread so I can ask loads of questions LOL) how do you go about getting this? Am I correct in thinking all I need is the interface??? It couldn't be programmed into the MMI already could it??? LIke where I control it from the console, you have to get the interface right? Thanks for your help! :wavey:

Not sure how sirius works, since I have XM, but I have a feeling they are relatively the same. Jinxxy....does the HU say it is sirius ready? I know my previous HU said it was XM ready, only to find when I was getting the install done that you have to buy an additional $150 part to "tune" into the channels, and then that unit plugs directly into the HU. I just said screw it and bought the newest Alpine HU that has everything built right in so all I needed to do was hook up an antenna and BOOM....XM radio. Your manual will tell you what you need (if you need anything in addition to what came standard, if not contact Audi.....after all.....it's their install, and equipment, right?

Sean

PS.....for anyone wondering....XM is just as "muffled" with the volume as anything you are all talking about. Not sure it was worth it (since I'm a CD listening nut....I hate radio!!!! But my gf got me the XM for XMAS, so I'll try it out......)

Definately. Everything I have heard about FM mods has been negative. My own experience with them has been bad, too. They just can't reproduce the sound most people expect to hear when they purchase something like XM, sirius, or simply trying to play a CD to the radio using them.

Well, I have an Alpine HU that was XM ready. Then I bought the Sirius tuner ($80) and connected that to the Alpine. I can use the HU to change the stations without having to use that external unit that you see at the stores. That was about it. I like the station selection a lot since I listen to pretty much everything.
