I've been playing around with that idea a while ago. The only bucket seat that was designed to give some kind of comfort (not a lot, but more then other offerings) is this one: http://www.sparcousa.com/pseats_comp.asp?id=82

Quiet few people use the Evo and Rev Sparco seats. The only problem I see would be getting in and out of the seat if you are in a tight parking spot, it would be next to impossible. I think if that is any concern to you this seat might be a good idea http://www.sparcousa.com/pseats_street.asp?id=97

Also if you are looking at loosing some weight from the car, then make sure that the rails you get are light, since that will be the heaviest part. None adjustable ones will be the lightest, but you'll not be able to adjust them. There are several types available, some are light, others are heavy. In my HyperRev mag I've 6 different rails listed for 350z and I'm sure there are more.

I don't think we get them in Oz. As far as I know all the cars have leather, heated seats.

In my ITR i had Recaros, and put 110,000 kms on it in 3 years. of ownership. I loved them and they were very comfy around hte city... but abit of a pain in the arse (and leg) on the interstate trips.

Ah yeah they were, the angle of the back and fw/back on the rails of course. Mind you they felt like non-adjustable ones... a friend of mine had a one piece recaro in the ITR. Felt very similar... except his was a major pain the in the arse to get OUT of.

Hmm its a bit ugly though.

Im not worried about this, I never park where I have to be that close to someone. I dont trust other people and their doors.

I had thought of this but I didnt know where to get light weight rails from. I do want to be able to slide the seat forward and back so I need Al ot Ti sliding rails, have you seen any of these in the magazine?

Anyone know of a company apart from Amuse that makes a carbon fiber boot?

I remember seeing one on that VQ35 350z drag car, was it carbon creations? I went to their website but I dont think all the stuff they make is real carbon fiber and I could see any boot lids.

Ive sent them an email seeing if they make them.

There are 6 different types, but they don't specify the weights and the material type (well at least not in english). But all of them have sliders with different types of levers, I think the lightest ones will have to levers on both sides. I think the lightest ones will be side mounted, they will also allow you to tilt the seat backwards and forwards and adjust the height as well. In my case I would want the seat to be lower by about 4cm so it's quit useful feature.

I think trying to replace your seats is futile and illegal!

The side airbags are standard and also attached to the seat. If you ditch them forget about insurance!
If you get lucky and get insurance, forget about complying with ADR!

Like I said futile and for what - trying to save 10kg to go .000001 sec faster?
