Hey, I'm not really an audiophile... I'm a convenience sort of person. So I'm really intrigued by the concept of an harddrive based MP3 player with WiFi LAN capabilities.

Has anyone had any experience with the Rockford Fosgate OmniFi DMP1?

I'm thinking about getting one installed in my '05 roadster. I've got the base audio system (non-Bose) and was considering getting the unit mounted where the subwoofer usually goes. With the wireless LAN I don't expect I'll be taking the harddrive out very often, so I'm okay with it being mounted in an awkward place.

Next question is: has FM modulators gotten any better/are there any high-end ones that are good (remember: not an audio-phile)? If not I guess I'll also have to swap out the HU since the base one has no Aux In.

Anyway... any opinions or hints on how to go about this would be appreciated. Or if anyone knows a good audio-installer in the NE Atlanta area.

Thanks in advance...

Mehve

This will allow you to use the CD changer input as an AUX-IN. FM modulation sucks. This will give you a clean and clear input:

I dont have any experience with the Rockford unit, but it does look enticing. It would be sweet to pull into your garage and download a new playlist from your computer instantly.

Thanks! :yourock: I was hoping there was some way to alter the factory HU for RCA inputs, but all the info I could find was on the Bose unit.

Just an update. Got the OmniFi, got it installed, and I'm mighty pleased with it. Thanks Toykilla... that AuxNiss worked like a charm. The OmniFi itself definitely has some quirks:
- It's slow to boot up (about 30 seconds)
- It's slow to react to button pushes (e.g. hit "next" and it may take a second)
- Don't push buttons a lot... it can lock up.

But knowing it's limitations, it's fine with it. The sheer fact that I now have my ENTIRE mp3 collection in the car and I can get to it via WiFi makes it all worth it.

(Hmm I can't figure out how to get thumbnails to work with this forum...)

If you want to see general pictures of the car, you can go to <a href='http://www.firebasealpha.com/mehve/z.asp]my 350Z page[/url]. It's a stock Daytona Blue Enthusiast Roadster, so not that exciting. I was just taking pictures for the **** of it.

I fixed it for ya'!

I hope you like my 'editing' of your post so the pics could show up.

BTW, nice job on the setup.
