Ok, I got good news and bad news.

The Bad,
Let me say first, I do have a show coming up, that is at night, and this will also help me at HIN.
Well last Sunday, I installed a full underbody lighting kit on my Z. I know it Screams RICE, But I used the top of the line LED Kit (Varad ULX300) and it really looks good :helpsmilie: Tonight was only the 2nd time I have driven the Z since the install and the First time I drove with it on (don't kill me, it was after 4am).

The Good,
I was on my way to the house (around 4am) With the LED kit on. I was just cruising about 65mph on 114 in Dallas. When I see a single HID coming up fast. Oh yeah a sport bike to play with!! ( it seems like sport bikes, LS1's, and Jaysen are the only things that will try me these days) So he jumps in front of me as I exit on to 121 north. For anybody that doesn't know that area, its a long sweeping turn to the right that gets very sharp at the end. I can normally take the turn at 80+, till the end at the sharp part, then I have to tap the breaks. Well the Bike was right in front of me, Maybe a 1/2 car ahead. I was doing right around 70 when we cleared the turn. There where a few cars and an 18 wheeler in front of us in the right 2 lanes on 121.

So I down shifted into 4th and slammed on the Gas. :shiftdrive: The revs jumped (I think I got the jump on him) as I moved all the way over to the left lane (121 is 5 lanes wide at this point). As I was switching lanes, he hit it, and popped a wheelie. Then He Pulled into the lane I was in, about a car length ahead of me, dropped back to two wheels and tucked down. I red lined it 4th, power shifted into 5th (not sure where I shifted out of 5th) then into 6th. At this time I was on his ass. I let off around 140mph with him about 10 feet in front of me (and I was slowly gaining). He slowed down as I did, got to my Passenger side window, lifted his helmet, and asked if I had a Twin Turbos!! I said No. He acted like He did not believe me, but gave me a thumbs up anyways, and got of at the next exit.

I just cruised the rest of the way home thinking, **** I thought he would smoke me. I can't believe I almost had him. The ricers are right!!! LED Lights do make you faster!!! [attachmentid=8113]

Nice kill.. what kinda bike was it?? If you're not TT or SC, it must have been an old ass sport bike with 3 outta 4 cylinders running.. either that or a 250cc lol

Beating a bike is no ****.. it takes a whole lotta HP in a car to do that. Not that I don't believe ya, but I think that was really just a pissing contest and not a race. Thats how highway jaunts usually are - who will go faster, not who IS faster.

Well The Bike had HID headlights and LED rear and turn lights, So I'm guessing it was kind of new. It was dark so I did not get a really good look at the bike, **** I don't know much about them anyway.

The guy seemed to be pretty good size, I would Say 5'10 or 6' and about 175-190lbs So I would guess at lest a 600cc???? He might not have been on it all the way, but I could tell by the way he asked if I had TT that he was surprised how easily I stayed up with him. He started it, so I would think he would want to put me in my place

what I thought a bike would do to me on the Highway

OK, I've been lurking here a bit so I'm going to finally post something. As the former owner of a 2000 C5 Vette with some significant mods and a 2K01 GSX-R1000 with even more mods, and now my 350Z I can say nothing has ever come close to touching my bike on the road. Not my Vette which would outpull anything I had come across.

I always acknowledge that the driver makes the race - so I'm going to give credit where credit is due - nice kill. However - I wouldn't try that kill again with anyone on a real rice-rocket and some road time.

All in all - nice kill - thanks for the post and go get 'em!

Peace,

Dean
Well I never got past him till we slowed down. I did gain on him, but he might have backed off a little around 130 or so. So it was not really a "kill". I'm just happy I could keep up with him. It seemed like he could not get away from me like he wanted. I was totally expecting him to just be a dot on the horizon.

Edit** If you don't Know my Z, it is FAR from stock. Check out my Garage for more info on my car
Sounds like you had FUN and that is all that counts!!!! Oh and that license plate is really kick ass!

Thanks!! but Most people don't get it.. Its Z_Blu_By But most people call it... Z_bluby. Its funny to watch people behind me at a stop light trying to sound it out, to see what it means :rolf2:

:lmfao: I got it the first time! Blubby as in Brister? :lmfao:
I raced a Katana 600 sport bike once from about 150 km/h all the way up to 240, by 200 I was passing him.. so we slowed down and the guy was shaking his head as in WTF. I had the pop charger with the stock 18s at the time.

Here is what I think.. you probably raced a similar bike but they still do 12s from a stop, these bikes don't have torque up top and once you push them pass 100 m/h you pretty much can walk pass them.

Now a Yamaha R6 is a 10 sec bike and GSX-R1000 is low 10s and these are super sport bikes. I saw a Porsche twin turbo with mods go after my friends R6 and he couldn't touch him.
As a past owner of 7 sport bikes including the most powerful and the fastest ever made, the Hayabusa, I can tell you that no bike 600cc and up will lose to a Z unless the rider is not trying or the roadway/traffic does not allow it. A stock Hayabusa (1300cc) does in fact run 10 second qtrs as does an R1, ZX10, GSXR1000, and CBR1000RR. No 600 is near that fast but still way fast enough to toast anything but a HIGHLY modified car - certainly not a stock Z or Vette or anything else for that matter.

Power to weight ratio cannot be overlooked. Newer liter bikes easily have around 150 HP but weigh around 500 lbs or 0.3 HP/lb. A Z has around 240 WHP but weighs 3400 lbs or 0.07 HP/lb. Not even in the same ball park folks. Fa' get a' bout it!

I love my Z and it rocks but I know better than to race a bike and anyone who does with the intention of beating it is not in the know and waiting to have his ass handed to him.

But good job anyhow. You outgunned some idiot. Maybe he will tell his friends and the Z rep will grow :)

As the owner of the fastest Z in the known universe, I can swear that no bike can outrun me. I'm one badass mofo! :shiftdrive: :burnout:

:jk: Good story, had me hook, line and sinker. I thought the bad news would be worse.

All hail the SmoothZ :)

there's a new bike coming out that's going to top the hayabusa. my friend told me about it the other day. i'll get the name...i totally forget. it has about 20 more horsepower than the top of the line horsepower...and pushes far past 200MPH stock. the hayabusa sticks between 190 and 200 stock.
NIce story! But I'll nvr take on a bike. I think I got a better chance leaving a $200K Ferrari in the dust!

Yeah that is a long standing arguement with Busa owners etc. - there is always some new bike coming out that will top it but it never materializes as promissed. Actually there are already a few bikes that have more HP (such as it's old rival the ZX12R - which I have also owned) but none with more torque, none with quicker 1/4 mile times and none with higher top speeds. Top speed wars are over - it is a liability to the manufactures (legal nightmares). So yes and no is the answer.

Wise man.
Here was my baby. It almost matched my Z too.
