Ok what is a plenum for the 350z i have never heard of it for any other car. What does it do, i think its for air intake. Is it similar to intake manifold?

it is the part that is on top of the motor, big silver piece and has the engine cover to the front of it, right under the strut bar. the throttle body attaches to it

basically in a nut shell it increases the airflow, you could call it the intake manifold

here is a pic of one of a few out there

Lots of people say its one of the best mods for hp, besides pullys and cats. Its my next mod hopefully. Just dont know what brand yet.

is it true that the kinetix plastic ones have been cracking? if you are gonna go with crawford Toykilla has his off his car for sale!!
I have seen and heard of more than a few peoples plenums cracking(kinetix). Thats why they are making a 3 version already.. Thanks for the heads up about toykilla.

I like their price a lot better then the crawford plus you get to keep your stock one. But I would defintaly wait for all the bugs to be fixed if I was buying one.

This is a Crawford plenum and strut brace (stock strut brace doesn't fit). Excellent mod, good bang for the buck. The stock plenum slopes down in front, so the front 2 cylinders are starved for air. Crawford fixes that.

Either crawford and kinetix make intake plenums. This is the upper plenum-- the upper part of the intake manifold. Basically they are a bit taller allowing more air, and both optimize airflow to each cylinder, the crawford being flowbench proven. Both have put down consistant power on dyno's, so it's just a choice. Personally, I went Kinetix because with the crawford, you have to pay for a replacement strutbar (if you choose so) and, if you want to keep your stock plenum, that also costs about $200.
It's true that you have to send your OEM plenum after you receive your Crawford one, but I can honestly tell you that mine will never come off my car again as it looks stock. Then again, I don't plan on selling my car...
I paid the extra $200 to keep my stock plenum, when I bought the Crawford plenum. That way, I got my Crawford plenum faster. He just went out and bought a new plenum core and welded mine together.

In the grand scheme of things as it relates to how much money I have spent modding my Z, $200 isn't really that much. And I can put the car back to stock when it comes time to sell it.
SSR Engineering made a custom Twin Turbo for a G35 to be universal on the VQ35 engine. They made a custom intake manifold (see picture below).

There hasn't been any performance review with this manifold and keep in mind that you would loose your low end torque.

Similar design to Top Secret's, it looks cool...
Here is an intake manifold that I have been waiting for. Kinetix Racing made this prototype aluminum intake manifold. This would be a perfect application for a forced induction car, unfortunately they have yet to release a production version. They are currently taking care of the orders with the plastic plenum they developed.

I have contacted Kinetix Racing a few times regarding the progress of this plenum. They have told me as of 3 weeks ago that they are going to be focusing their attention back to this prototype plenum to develop it further for production. Maybe we will see it by the end of the summer, who knows? But I will be waiting as long as necessary...
kinitex looks way kewl. any idea of rwhp increase?
They never released any information regarding the horsepower increase with this plenum. Also they said that they wouldn't make the plenum available for sale until they did so.
