The "perfect" wheel specs are a myth. What I (or other folks) might think is perfect might not float your boat. Anything close to flush with that kind of drop will rub on the wheelwells as a byproduct. Do a bit more research on here and other sites before you commit to buying anything.

Good Morning All:

I'm a recent Z owner and drive an '03 Touring model with stock wheels/tires/suspension. Stock wheels are 18x8 all around w/ a 30mm offset. Front tires are 225/45/18 with Rears being 245/45/18.

I'd like to upgrade my wheels to 19in. What rim diameter and offset is ideal if wanting to remain as flush with the wheel well as possible and still provide comfortable driving? I've read countless threads and no one can seem to provide a definitive answer. Obviously I plan on lowering the car as well.

Thanks in advance.

Once again, this is an impossible question to answer. To start, going to a 19" rim increases weight and expense, while also decreasing the aspect ratio of the tire. That's not going to increase ride comfort by any measure. Lowering the Z and getting the wheels flush "as possible" will also decrease comfort, so there's a few more factors of why there's no definitive answer.

Thank you dkmura for your swift response. I understand. Lowering the car compounded with less aspect ratio of the tire = more of the 'feels' when driving down the road. I can live with that. I'm very interested in purchasing wheels that have a diameter of 19x8.5 with an offset of 15mm.

Given the diameter of the wheel, how much could I drop the car without experiencing rub or scraping of speed-bumps? And will these wheels stick out from the wheel-wells much?

Many thanks in advance.

Sounds like you've determined to get 19" wheels, but I hope you also realize the diameter + reduced aspect ration will mean a much higher chance of rim damage down the road. Hitting a pothole, curb or speed bump can easily bend a rim, so get to know your local wheel repair shop.

As for your last few questions, scraping is bound to happen on occasions, even with NO drop. It really depends on what size tire you go with. Do you have a chance to test fit these wheels before you purchase? It's really the only way to know about critical factors like brake clearance and whether they stick out beyond the wheel wells.

I run 18x9.5 +22 mm and 18x10.5 +22 mm. Haven't lowered it yet. Consider running 18x9.5 +22 mm and 18x9.5 +12 mm for a cheaper set of tyres with 245/45R18 and 265/45R18 fitment. Your speedometer will read true at that point, and you'll fill the guards without having to dump the car and scrape it over the smallest speed humps. 255/40R18 and 275/40R18 should be considered also if you feel it looks too meaty.

I've got a 07 enthusiast with stock suspension and brakes. Fenders front and rear were already rolled when i got the car. Found a set of NS wheels M01 18's I was thinking of picking up. 18x9.5 with a 15 offset in front and 18x10.5 15 offset in rear. Was gonna go with 245 40 18's in front and 275 40 18's in rear. From the searching I've done it looks like they should fit without rubbing. Any opinions welcome. Should these sizes be fairly flush with the fenders or would they stick out?
