Has anyone painted the engine cover? What product did you use, and how?

Thanks!

Oh, dude. So many people have done it. TrackZ03 has some nice ones. I believe you should contact Gundam02 for details since he's doing them for a fee.
Gundam02 did for me too. Quality really good. Price is much lower compare to other guy.
Gundam did a great job on mine at a very reasonable price. If you are looking on tackling the engine covers yourself, I'm sure you can PM him to find out what the paint/prep process is like.
Here's the DIY I wrote up on the covers. If you want to try it yourself let me know if any questions come up.

I had my engine covers painted by ZPRESENCE last year, he did an awesome job.

ZPRESENCE (Rob) does great work, and there's also a DIY version of this on 350zfrenzy.com.
I did mine myself at home. I should have not been so impatient and waited a day or so before I reinstalled them. I have a little dirt that got into the clear coat now from driving before them were completely dry. But I only speant about $20 !!

I love DIY and saving money. But it is not that easy for me having a Brickyard color. So did you color match the white or just find a plain white that is close in color?

THANKS for sharing your DIY effort - "Painting Battery and Brake Fluid Covers" with the members. :smiley69:

It's a very thorough and useful write-up, for sure!
I'm doing mine right now, I did the engine cover first and it looked great until I wetsanded the clearcoat w/1500 grit...which needless to say screwed it up...but I did the three fluid caps and they came out great. I'm doing the battery and brake fluid covers right now. I'll post pics later tonight or tomorrow...Cost me around $25 to do them. I have a SS and I painted the pieces red...
I've had parts painted by both ZPRESENCE and Gundam02 and very happy with them. Gundam02 did my plenum cover recently and it really finishes off my bay!

What happened? Why did using that step 'screw' it up?
Gundam - Thanks man for the DIY link.
I'll start as soon as it warms up a little.

When I wet sanded it w/the 1500 grit, it took the shine away from the cover. It's a lot duller than the fluid caps and just doesn't look as nice...but it was a learning expeience and now I know...

Here are a few pics...it's cold outside so I only took the one in the garage so thats why the lighting kind of sucks. You can kind of see the color diff btw the engine cover and the fluid caps

Here's the battery cover primed and ready for paint
