Anyone have an expired helmet? I'm getting a new (good) helmet that I want to paint, and I want practice before taking sandpaper to it. Let me know and we can see if we can work out terms.

Yep, mine!!! I have a 9 year-old arai, that I have been looking to replace...

What I'm looking for is something w/more forehead protection...out of 3 shops in the 303, still haven't found what Im looking for! Bastards!!

Terms = I need an excuse...And if your experiments work out, you can flag mine... Yellow & black stripes on the left side (to match my bikes colors) and an equal green, white, red (think Italian flag) to give heritage to Italian bikes on the right side. I'll cover shipping...

Dang it, I thought this thread was going to be about how I can recertify my helmet. I think it's BS that a perfectly good helmet that's seen maybe a dozen track events is no longer 'good' based on a Snell rating.

Well the point of dating is that they don't remain perfectly 'good' forever. Helmets actually do have a shelf life. Ozone, hair oils, and to a lesser extent, UV rays break down the foam in the helmet.

I understand that, but a quick inspection or eyeballing it should do the trick at local events. I wear a head sock, and my helmet stays in a bag and stored in the basement when not in use. It looks very new. I'd feel safe using it for the next few years.
