from memory it was "do not use castrol syntrax 75/90"
See that's good info to have there!!! Can have alot of people and their zeds pain.

STAY AWAY FROM CASTROL SYNTRAX FOR ZED GEAR BOXES.

we must have a way to sticky this valuable info?

I just switched to royal purples 10W40 and it made a big difference. Engine now feels alot smoother and seems a little more willing to rev. Def, worth the money IMO.

Indy from IS Motor Racing told me they'd always use either a 5W-40 or 10W-40 grade... he said it doesn't really matter if it's a 5W or 10W but it's always "40".. i didn't ask him why though.. maybe it's a thicker oil so doesn't burn as fast? :dunno:

oh btw congrats on the purchase  be sure to post some pics...

Just changed my transmission oil to Redline MT-90, the improvement is huge.
I still have to try Royal Purple in the engine.

Why does everyone use Royal Purple instead of Motul, yes the Motul is more expensive, but its peanuts compared to the total cost of upkeep for the car?

imabug it sounds as though they ment its best not to switch oils and just stick to the one, either 5-40 or 10-40, is that true?

Now what about Diff oil??

Also I spoke to my mechanic, he is just the mechanic who does the oil in my cars, he isn't a performance car specialist and he has never heard of Royal Purple, so where can I get all these oils in Sydney? when I get my car 1st thing I am gonna do is change these oils.

what he meant was you could switch from 5W-40 to 10W-40 if you want.. as long as it's a "40"

different places use different oils.. IS Motor Racing gives you a choice of Royal Purple & Castrol.. Powerplay uses Elf.. Pro Concept uses Motul i believe... they are all quality oils... just a matter of personal preference

you can get these oils in stores like Autobarn or Repco

Wasn't there a thread a long while ago about how Mobil 1 ate the brass pieces in Z engines? Something about being GL-5 instead of the required GL-4? Just wanted to bring that up because I remember it caused a mass panic the last time Mobil 1 reared its head around here.

I believe you are talking about the transmission oil, most of them are GL-5 and the Z requires GL-4.

The transmission fluid is also correct though. Mobil 1 will eat the brass in your transmission due ot being GL-5 instead of GL-4.

i've just picked up royal purple 10w40 and a k&n oil filter (figured would try this out having used ryco on previous cars for years since it uses a 1" nut instead of having to use a tool)

Car has done 60xxx km. Should I bother doing the gearbox oil as well? what is the oem oil used for the manuals?

Also will be replacing pads when I do this service later in the week. Just wondering should I be replacing the brake fluid aswell?
