Yes had notchy gears too! I put in 3qts of RedLine MTL and put in some Redline gear oil in the rear end also. I am very happy with decision to go with RedLine fluids.

Hey Llare...you think it made a big difference? Also does that maintain the factory warranty. Our powertrain coverage last 5/60 and we made need to have that :)

Hey Bro I am not sure about the warranty, but I would not give the dealer that type of information. I don't think the dealer would test to fluid anyway to see if its Nissan or Redline. Redline is some of the best stuff out there IMO, and I have used it on all my cars. If you have some concerns about Redline hurting your tranny, don't worry it won't happen. I have used this stuff in my car for 6 months and 6000 miles and if anything the transmission has gotten better.

To me I have seen a much better improvement in how the shifter feels. I remember 2nd gear was such a b!tch! It was sooo notchy, and I would grind gears often. I never grind anymore and the feel is 10x better. Even with my short shifter installed, which can make shifting even notchier due to less leverage.

How much does the Redline cost and how easy is it to replace?

Redline MTL cost about 7.95/quart you need about 3 quarts for the Tranny. Gear oil for the rear differential is about the same and I think I used about 1.5~2.0 quarts. I went with 75/90w synthetic gear oil in the rear end.

This is very easy to do change out. The only thing that is remotely difficult is finding a pump to push the fluid into the transmission and the differential. I used a hand held manual pump to do this while the car was jacked up. You can run a long hose and gravity feed it in from the top of the car but it's better to do this with two people so you can see when it starts to drip out from the fill plug.

So I would be going to my local parts store and looking for Redline MTL (is that the exact title?), and Redline Gear Oil (75/90w synthetic) for the rear. I would assume as simply as draining (using the pump), then filling accordingly.... can you just drain without any use of a pump? And did you do anykind of breaking in (warming up sorta) these new liquids?

Redline will probable not be at your local parts store, unless its a performance shop. Most Performace shops will have it. I have seen Redline Injector Cleaner at places like Pep Boys and AutoZone though. Yes its called MTL for the Transmittion and Gear Oil for the rear end.
