This is just great, I typed almost two pages, but freaking computer lost the connection and I lost everything I typed. Just my Nissan luck

I purchased a 2004 silver enth. model with 12 miles on the clock on Dec 20, 2004. Car was purchased as a new car and I drove it off the lot from Norwood Nissan in Rhode Island that day. Three days after I bought the car, I notcied damages on the left rear corner of my car. At first I thought it happened after I bought the car, but then I saw dried touch-up paint and saw the damage on the pictures I took of the car on the 20th. I then realized the car was damaged before I even picked it up. Anyway I tried repeatedly to get a hold of the manager, but they just ignored me for two weeks. I wasn't able to get a hold of the manager until three weeks after I bought my car, the general manager of Norwood Motor Group decided that they would be responsible and fix the damage for me after our little meeting. (The Nissan sales manager NEVER called me back) He assured me that the car would be fixed properly, the car would come out the same as new. I took his words and dropped off my car this past Monday. They gave me a brand new 05 Altima as a loaner while my car was in the shop. Before I go any further, I just have to say I have nothing against the general manager of Norwood Motor Group as he was responsible and he did everything that was right.

Anyway I picked up the car on Friday and I noticed four things that were wrong immediately. The bodywork came out to be fairly good when all was set and done, but I did notice four problems.

#1 The left rear quarter panel sticks out .5 inch compare to the bumper. The panel was damaged during the accident, but they never bother fixing it so now the bumper doesnt line up completely straight. It's not a big deal, but I can see it. It's not worth the trouble to go back for this crap, I give up.

#2 The GM promised me that an OEM bumper would be used to replace the old bumper. The bodyshop guy said he replaced the bumper with an OEM unit, but god knows if he relaly did. He might have just repaired the old bumper or they might have just bought some cheap taiwanese part.

#3 The car was filthy inside when I got it, there were dust and dirt on most panels. The car was no different than all the used 03 I see sitting at the used car lot. My car is currnetly a litlte over a month old with 2000 miles on it, I am going to have to devote one day to clean it now....

#4 Lastly the car now smells like chemicals and bodyshop, there are dust and smell everywhere and I cant get rid of it. I drove for 100 miles today with the windows down today, yet I still cant get rid of the smell.

Also Nissan's quality stinks, my car's alignment is off, the speakers sound like they are blown, the seat adjustments are odd and weird, the rear hatch rattles, the wheels and steering rack makes noise. There are so many litlte things that will probably become problems later on. Here is the kicker, I cant have it fixed under warranty because I don't have my own license plate for the car yet after 30+ days!!!! I am still driving around on the dealer's plate after my temporary expired, the dealer here wont fix the car because it has a dealer plate on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So now i am stuck with a smelly dirty formerly damaged car without warranty for 30K! Isn't it great?

I have better chance of seeing god before Nissan will do anything for me. I already have like 3 files opened with them.

Case
#1 Damage. Their answer "It's between you and the dealer, not our problem"

#2 License plate. Their answer "We called the dealer for you, they said it is not ready. It's not their problem if the CT DMV is being slow about it...."

#3 Car problem "Bring it to the dealer for a warranty, we will fix it for you.."

I am not going to deal with Norwood Nissan again, they just mail me the license plate and I will never go to them again. This whole car buying experience is more of a hassle than fun and joy.

Unfortunately a lot of dealers count on people doing just what was suggested. That is, go to another dealer. Then the problem is someone elses and he has won. Complaining to the Regional office usually accomplishes nothing as the dealer is an "independent" business man and they can exert no control. Contact an attorney, tell him your problem and have him explain to the dealer that you are committed to being dealt with in a fair an equitable manner and that you wish to have only what you have paid for. A new vehicle. If he can't see his way to provide that then legal action will follow. That should get their attention. Most dealers don't care for legal involvements as its bad for business. It's good that you have pictures of the damage, they will be handy. Once you have gotten what you paid for then tell the dealer to take a hike and find a more responsive one. Don't let the b-----ds get the better of you!!

Good luck !!!
