Just picked up a high mile but pampered 2003 350. I have loved Z cars for years, but haven’t had one until now. Pulling motor and tranny next weekend to make way for a 495 hp LS3.
Not a six speed. 5 speed auto, and while the little 6 is a fine motor, it’s major limitation is that it is cost prohibitive to get up into to 450-500 hp range as compared to the LS3 that will run comfortably and reliably in that range for 100k plus miles.
Understood- the LS3 will provide quite a bit more power than a VQ. But what kind of tranny will you use with the LS3? Also, how do you get the BCM and ABS to work with your standalone ECM?
Using the new 6L80e (3000 stall conv) with both tap shift and paddle shift configured. Tranny (just released) has built in ecu that engages with LS3 module (connect and cruise package) will retain bcm and integrate as needed with can interface (a/c control, etc) Will delete all traction control and ABS.
Wow- between the engine and tranny, you'll have more into your silver Z than what the car is worth. How do you insure a street car like that?
