I have added some LED technology to my car that I want to put on an on/off switch. I don't know much about car wiring so I need some help.

here's where I am at.

I have run the wires to the fuse box area by the battery and to an area where the switch is. i tested the lights by running a lead to the positive side and negative sides of the battery -sucess, But the 3 post rocker I bought made the wire get hot when it was in the off postition and I am afraid that a fire would occur so I took it off. the switch had 3 prongs (pwr, accessory/ground).

here is where I need help

1. where should I put the wires to in the fuse box?
2. What kind of switch should I use - only 2 wires.
3. or use the one I have and tell me how to wire it properly.

thanks in advance everyone!

22 - I think I have a solution with the switch. I was looking to get input on a specific switch and place to splice into the fuse block.

why do you suggest a relay? how woould that work in place of the switch?

I figured out the switch with the meter and all is working. thanks for the suggestions. Still want to know how a relay would work here as I am curious on different methods for future mods.
