I know this will be biased, but I just wanted more or less, ideas and/or reasurance. :D

I am selling my car or trading it in and am looking to get a new car in the spring. I currently have been set on a DB '05 6-spd Touring 350Z with NAVI and the works. I can't shaking the thoughts in the back of my head though. I have seen sooo many problems while surfing this board with these cars. I.E Feathering tires(nissan showing no sign or fixing...just giving temp fixes until you have to start paying out of pocket for tires and allignments), roof flex marks, cheap paint, trannies dieing(sometimes 3 to 4 to a car(, clicking in back axles, chattering clutch, and many more. When spending this kind of money(~$36,000) I have a lot of options on things I can do. I was just wondering if you had the oportunity to spend up to about $38,000, would you get the Z again? I have been looking at the STI, EVO, Z, used Supra TT, RX-8(but with the oil consumption, lack of power and having to keep this up there in the RPMS to have any sort of power...I no longer have this as a consideration), etc. Any opions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I would buy the Z again. Of the problems mentioned about, I have had absolutely none. Most of them weren't even around in the 2004 models, so worrying about them on the 2005s is silly. As far as the STi and EVO go, they are completely different types of cars than the Z (sports sedans vs sports car). I'm a big EVO fan, especially the non-US version of the MR. The one coming here isn't too bad, and both that and the RS are great cars. I'm just not an STi fan. And the Supra will be a lot of fun, possibily even more than the Z. There it really comes down to do you want a new car or a used car
Knock on wood, but I've been extremely happy with my purchase. I'm the second owner, so most of the problems (3 known) have been fixed. I enjoy the **** out of my car, and so do all my jealous neighbors who watch me enjoy it.

I say go for it and keep your fingers crossed that Nissan solved the problems in the newer models. Besides, if you customize your Z, those little nuisances will be the least of your problems.
i have the 05 (3 weeks old) and YES allignments problem still there. I have to bring to the dealer this weekend. It keep going to the right. hehehe

Wow, I haven't heard about the alignment thing in forever. I forgot all about that one
Great. They still haven't addressed that problem? That is rediculous.

See, I wouldn't say that at all. Just because one person in 6 months mentions it, I'd hardly call it a problem.
Well I pretty much decided I am getting this car. I just pray I get lucky with these issues. Some I can easily deal with but the tranny and allignment ones are my main concerns.
i look at it this way, no matter what every car will have some kind of issue with it. i think the problems are not as bad as you read, i have had mine for about 1 1/2 yrs now and no major issues. good luck with the purchase and hope to see ya around!

First, I think you are making the mistake that the alignment problem (pull to the right) is completely different from the feathering problem. All you'd need is to get the car realigned and you'd be fine. And with maybe 1 Z in 100 having to get realigned, I don't think you'd need to pray for that not to happen to you
Correct, Dirn. Chances are, any car will have an idiosyncracy that you don't like or which annoys you. It's the law of averages. As long as it's covered under a warranty, I don't care. My Dodge Grand Caravan has more problems, but it's all covered. No big deal.
The tire feathering has been addressed and fixed. Most of the problems you have READ on forums is kids talking bullshit. Ask the person in question how they drive there car, what mods, etc. The trannies are very rare and isolated. All others were problems that the early 2003 models had and have been addressed through TSB's.

Would I buy again, Yes!
