I was out on Montgomery ( a popular race street ) on a Sunday afternoon looking for some action but after about 45 min of cruising was about to head home. I was surprised because this is a hot spot for cruising and didn't see any potential victums. I'm bout to head home when I see a red SRT-4 going the opposite direction make an immediate u-turn. ZweeT!!! I slow down and sure enough he gets next to me and asks me to pull over to check out some EXTA Z! Never seen a SRT-4 up close but he loved the Z. He had an aftermarket BOV and some bleeder hose he was telling me about. So we head off to find a red light.

Find a red light and I'm pretty nervous because I heard those little boogers are fast. Light turns green and we take off. I had him from a quarter car to a half a car the whole way. Not sure when but between 2nd and third he eased up a bit but I ended up stomping him. He said he just beat a C5 Vette and was pretty impressed.

Now all I have left to kill is a C5 or C6 Vette and a EVO.

I would have guessed you'd have kicked his ass worse than that, with a SC and all? Whats the deal? Was he heavily modded?

And as for the evo, I raced one stock vs stock, and we were door to door. Gotta keep in mind that the only way for evo's to be fast is the 0-60, and if the owner isnt cool with dumping his clutch at like 6K to get a decent start, your gonna take them off the line every time.

Seems to me that alot of you under estimate a Neon SRT4. Completely stock with the vacuum hose disconnected or bleeder hose...or whatever. They boost alot higher on the stock turbo and are a decent foe...im not surprised at all that he kept up with you.

Yeah, but come on.. we're talkin over 100hp difference here. I could see it being that close stock versus stock, but since when has FWD been a good setup for drag??

A supercharged Z is in the near 400bhp mark.. A disconnected vacuum hose or whatever SRT-4 is pushin what.. 300bph at peak boost?? So lets talk the weight issue: Z is ~3200lbs, SRT-4 ~2800. Difference is 400lbs. So, if you wanna get creative, say 10hp per every 100lbs, so, 40 hp difference.

Now its two cars of same weight *cancelled out*, one with 400hp, another with 340hp.. and now, one of them has to put that power to the ground opposite where weight will be distributed..

What am I missing here?
