I have a 370 and used royal purple a few times and noticed my car would hesitate to go. Rpm would climb but car wouldn’t go. My car finally threw a code saying the mas air was messed up. I cleaned them and they weren’t even dirty. I decided to go with mobile one and it has brought the car back to life. No more issues with the car. Witch makes me wonder why royal purple has been such a fail in this car. I used royal purple in my Honda’s and have had nothing but the best experience with it. Has anyone used RP gear oil in the z

Welcome- but your initial thread is quite confusing. The title is "motor oil", but then you ask about gear oil at the end?

More to the point, I use Mobil 1 0-40W FS for the engine and Redline MT85 in the tranny for both street and race Zs. Haven't had any reason to change based off my UOAs.

Thanks I was just wondering because I used royal purple in the gears. I have a touring auto. I currently use mobile one in the engine. I recently converted from Honda to the fairlady. I street race and didn’t want to use a gear oil and motor oil that’s gonna break down fast.

Your Z deserves to be taken to a real road race track and exercised! As for automatic tranny fluid, I have no experience with it. But based upon your Z34 experience, it sounds like Royal Purple may not be your best choice.
