Well I just got my first performance mods for my 03 Track Z and I am really excited to get them installed. For Christmas my girlfriend bought me Stillen True Dual Exhaust, UR Pulleys, and a JWT Pop Charger. I think I am probably going to get Stillen test pipes to compliment the exhaust. And I hope to have everthing installed within the next few weeks. One modification I know I plan on doing soon, if not now, is the Techno Square reflash except I have some questions about it that I was hoping some one could help me with. The guy at the performance shop I just spoke with tells me that his particular garage doesn't deal with technosquare, and that I would have to take care of it myself. If I go ahead and get my chip reflashed after performing these basic mods, will I have to get it redone every time I add something else? And I was wondering if anyone in the Long Island NY area knows of a local shop that would remove the ECU and deal with Technosquare for me. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I haven't heard too many outstanding testimonials about TS and the reflash. I think it's a lot of money for practically nothing. With your mods, you really don't need to do the reflash. Your ECU will or should adjust itself after you install everything.

BTW, nice GF! And welcome to the board!

Hmm thanks for the opinion I will certainly take it into consideraton. From what I understand from reading around is that the Stock Z could use some improvement in the fuel mapping, even if the top end speed removal and the rpm increase on the TS reflash isnt that big of a deal.

Do you think a vehicle with totally basic mods would benefit from a Fuel Management system, or is that more appropriate for FA and worked engines?

From what I've read, FI and/or highly modded engines benefit more from the reflash. I do seem to recall that Nissan had a TSB for a reflash, but I'm not sure about that.

I have test pipes, JWT intake and a grounding kit. I'm running rich, according to the dyno I did a few weeks ago. I'm sure an Air/Fuel setup would help in that dept., but I'm not willing to spend that much for one.

Hey, congrats on the mods....Your gf has great taste in presents! I'm in agreement w/ Smooth - Seems that the TS Reflash is more valuable of an upgrade for N/A or F/I once your mods are pretty much near completion, otherwise you'll need add'l reflashes if you plan on continuing to upgrade your Z.

wait until you are done with all your BREATHING mods (intake, exhaust, headers, plenum etc...) then get a reflash. in order to get the full effect of these mods you must update your ECU otherwise the factory software will compensate and reduce hp. TS will also update your ECU for $150 if you want a reflash now and cant wait.

Well looks like my "breathing mods" will all be done soon (next few weeks), last night I caved in and bought test pipes, plenum, and headers. So that will probably be the majority of my performance mods for a while. I guess I will be considering a reflash within the next couple months. Not sure where to take my mods from here, eventually I plan to go FI but I wont have the money for that for quite a while. I am thinking perhaps the 3.9 Final Drive (can that go on a 6MT with VDC?) and lightened clutch/FW after these current mods go on.

Maybe somebody here can address why the ECU flash is soo expensive for the Z? I had an Audi where you could get chipped (which required you to have something installed) for less than $300 and eventually they found a way to flash the ECU without removing the stock one.

Seems like it's a little steep at $600 for something so simple.

Seeing the TS is the only one who offers this unique service for the 350Z, I suppose they can set the price.

I know there are other 'chips' out there, but I believe those are for FI setups.
