Most people here will probably tell you to get the quaife. I just got it installed in my car back in June, and it is a real noticeable difference. I am coming from no LSD at all, so what you feel might be different.

I'm looking at buying a quaife for my base 2008 Z real soon, probably in the next month or two. Has anyone actually installed it themselves? If so, can i do it in my garage, or is it to complicated for your average person. I have a bit of experience working on cars, but have never done this type of mod before. I guess what i am asking is basically the process for installation.

I have never done one myself, but from what I know of the process here it is:

1. remove pumpkin from car

2. strip pumpkin

3. assemble with new LSD & shims, torque to spec and check ring gear / pinion mesh & backlash

4. repeat step 3 a few times with different shim packs unless you get really lucky (or have done this a million times are are pretty good)

5. install pumpkin back in car, drive for a few hundred miles, take cover back off, re torque bearing cap bolts & check again.

6. re-assemble & break in

If I was doing a gear swap in a mud rig I had, or just some beater I probably would have done it myself, but I did not want to learn on my car that I autocross in, and eventually track a little.
