after doing a quick search on google.. I find no evidence that you are not required to have a front plate.

This is just a "fix it" warning isn't it? Or is it a fine and no points?

There is a petition for it:
http://www.petitiononline.com/caplate/petition.html

And also some funny reading.. maybe you aren't high enough a profile or you could remove your plates all together (and replace with a bar code?)...

http://www.russellbeattie.com/notebook/1008538.html

Either way.. I'm sure it it wasn't required.. You probably wouldn't have gotten a ticket.. But then again.. It is Nazicali...

Seems like you lasted a while without it. Maybe you can try again and beat 11 months.. It was almost a year... that should get you some sort of merit badge. :)

EDIT!! :) http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d03/vc5205.htm

Look at that ^^^ You can have stickers in lieu of the plate(s)!!

Have a look on the CA DMV page.. http://www.dmv.ca.gov <=------ Your answer lies here!! Search ON! Fight the powa!!

You are required to have a front plate in CA. That section Chris found is very ambiguous. Saying the dept. MAY blah blah but it's not law. You can take your chances, and maybe not get another ticket. Why not get the bracket that you can attach to the grill and put it there instead of drilling??

One thing I like about living in PA........no front plates. You are only issued one plate and can't get a second one if you wanted to

I haven't lived in CA for several years but front plate was required back when.

NJ requires both plates, but a nice frame makes it liveable!
