Kenwood/Focal/JLAudio setup

This adventure began less than a month after buying my car (aug 12, 2003)
My previous vehicle was a 95 S-10 with 3 12" JLAudio W6s, 6 1/2" MBQuart components, Kenwood HU,
. So it only took so long before I had to change the sound in my Z into something respectable. My friend Gavino from Dynamic Audio did the install. First thing was the HU, I replaced the stock one with a Kenwood KDC-X959. This was connected to the Sirius Satellite receiver I took from my truck.

Then we moved on to the components. Initially I went with the Infiniti Kappa Perfects 6.1. They sounded good. But then I came across on a deal for some Focal 165 KP Polykevlar Components 6 1/2". Man these things are incredible. Sound clear as day regaurdless of how loud i turn it up. Here is a picture of the two next to each other

I did not keep the tweets that came with the 165KPs, I put in the TN-52s which come with the Utopia Focals
Since the new tweets were much larger than the stock ones, a little modification was done. We made the holes bigger.

Behind the seats I have some Infiniti Kappa 3ways in the stock locations. After my mids & highs were complete we moved on to the BASS!!!. As I stated earlier, I had 3 12W6s in my S-10, so I am a big JLAudio fan. Now they have a new version of the W6 called the W6v2. I didn't want as much bass as I had in my truck so I went with a JLAudio 10W6v2 sub. Believe me it hits. Many times people have asked how many 12s I have in the back. To power all this I went with a JLAudio 500/5 amp. This powers the entire system. No need for 1000s of watts. Most of the time, many amps is overkill and when installed they are turned to lower settings. I sacrificed my spare to make room for an enclosure because I did not want to lose the little room I had left. A custom enclosure was made by Gavino and it was ported and tuned for a JL 10W6v2 sub. An amp rack was made and attached to the sub enclosure. Then a cover was made with the Z emblem over the amp rack and a grill gaurd to protect the sub. Get this, absolutely no dynomat. I'm telling you this guy Gavino has been doing this 11 yrs and can make miracles happen. There is absoltely no rattle. Witnesses to this are toykilla and 350z as they heard the car in person.

Then I had to make it look stock
. I took the factory trunk mat and cut slits to accomidate the speaker gaurd. I can still play the music with it on, matter of fact, it sounds the same with it on or off. But this keep most would be theaves from thinking I have something other than my books inside the car. The entire enclosure sits roughly 2 incher higher than stock. I still through my bookd and laptop back there with no porblems.
