The Lamborghini Gallardo was driven out of Mosman Automobiles at 11am after being paid for with a Commonwealth Bank bank cheque.

But when two young men were spotted cruising down Colechin St, Yagoona, in the Italian sports car at 2pm it turned a few heads - and attracted the attention of local police.

Witnesses said the pair, who had the car's keys, told police that they had "borrowed" the car from its new owner.

The owner of the dealership went with the bloke to the bank to pick the cheque up. He sat out the front while he went in to "get" the cheque.

They went back to the dealership, sorted the paperwork and he then took the car!

Apparently the cheque had the watermark and all the other bank markings so the cheque, for all intents and purposes, look legit.

Imagine though, doing this with that car. Keep in mind there are only two in Sydney (of that colour) and only one with the see through engine cover.

Surely you would pick something a little less noticeable and common, or, as soon as you picked up the Lambo you'd go a respray it a least.

Dumb farks!!!

The car has been impounded and they are locked up so, no, they cops didn't believe them.

As always
