So in a couple of weeks, I'll be seeing LV for the first time in over a dozen years. I'm sure things have changed. I'll be staying at the Tropicana from April 10 to the 13th and possibly into the weekend if I find the right prices for hotel and airfare.

I see the Tropicana pretty much has all I need for fun. I'm bringing my family, so at least they'll be entertained during the day. I'm looking forward to the pool, as I'm sure the kids are, too. They have a magic show that I might have to go to.

Some of my coworkers are coming with to the conference, so I plan on going out at least once that week for some

I can find whatever I need to online about things to do or see while there, but any tips or info would be appreciated. If anybody has inside knowledge on anything of interest, let me know.

I know that Tech member i8acobra lives in the LV area, so I'm sure he can fill you in on what's up with what's going down. I dig Vegas, I try to make there once or twice a year. Though admittedly my trips are probably a tad less family oriented than your's will be.

Vegas has many things to offer. Free stuff to do that I enjoyed:

1. Circus Circus has big top shows inside
2.The Treasure Island has a swashbuckling fight outside in the moat every evening.
3. Bellagio fountains dance every day in 15 min intervals. Sweet at night with the lights.
4. Ventia has gondolas to watch. The rides are $15
5. Ceasars has statues that come to life inside at the Forum shops
6. Wild Lion habitat at MGM
7. Mirage has the outdoor volcano too...hot-hot!

Somewhere along the way I obtained a free coupon for the Eiffel Tower trip. I never used it. A lot of the hotels offer coupons for free stuff or deep discounts.

Enjoy!!

Yeah, I don't think the missus would appreciate me and the boys going to see :boobies: or :chorusline: in the nude.

I'm definitely going to see this with them: http://tropicanalv.com/ent_bodies.asp

IIRC, I think there's an amusement park. I wonder if this is it: http://www.adventuredome.com/default2.aspx

The Bodies is worth every penny! You won't be disappointed. I was very impressed with how they created an educational environment for real human bodies.

I took my son to that amusement park at Circus Circus when he was young. He really enjoyed it. Also I think MGM had one not too long ago out back...

Cool, should be fun. It's a shame Vegas has become so kid-friendly, but it should provide a good time for the whole family. If I could make a suggestion, pay a visit to an exotic car rental one day if you have some spending money...oh and avoid the blue man group
I cannot wait to return when I can gamble and drink...

Mandalay Bay also has the Shark Reef.

Yes, the Adventurdome is the indoor amusement park. They also have some rides on top of the Statosphere Tower (and an observation deck). There's a roller coaster at the NY NY as well.

We Vegas folk usually meet up on either Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Check out:

for dates and times.

Cool, thanks Aaron. I think my boys will really enjoy the shark reef exhibit. And if I can sneak out, maybe I'll come meet you guys at the meet. :hide2:

Yes and yes and some of these you have to pay for but worth it...

Mandalay Bay's shark reef
MGM the lions
Luxor Egyptian theme and 3D rides, gameroom
Mirage has the Zoo outside, white lions
Caesars THE FORUM SHOPS and exotic car display there
New York New York walking thru the streets of NYC
Stratosphere go to the top, see Vegas from above and the rides up there
The Rio, off the Strip, largest buffet in Vegas, the country maybe the world, awesome view from VooDoo Lounge (killer food there)
Steve Wynn Hotel and Casino Penske-Wynn Ferrari-Maserati dealership

From the Tropicana you will be a skywalk away from MGM, Mandalay, and a free tram ride from Mandalay to Luxor to Excalibur, and walk across the street to New York New York, all right there in the same part of the strip.

I love Vegas, and it's about time we went again!!!!! Have fun! The weather this time of year is great out there, bring a jacket b/c at night it can be very chilly....

So if I were a gambling man, what do you pros suggest on a way to win some cash? I have no patience for most of the casinos, and I only know how to play blackjack at a decent level. Slots are mindless and is the bane of my lucky existence.

Try blackjack at New York New York. I went to LV last month and played blackjack for the first time in probably two or three years. I ended up almost tripling my money. Me and a friend played drunk as f*ck, and we got compliments (or they could have been sarcastic) for winning almost every hand. I don't think they liked the fact that every time I ordered a beer I kept spilling it on myself. It probably helped my luck a bit...

As for the Wynn-Ferrari dealership... it's 10 bucks to get in... you get a Penske hat but I don't know why they couldn't give you a Ferrari hat. You're also not allowed to take pictures - they have a 'service' for that. I didn't think it was worth it, considering I walked forever just to get there (other side of the strip).

Dave

I've heard this is a great place to go:

http://www.treasureslasvegas.com/

Plus, it has the word "steakhouse" in the description so it has to be a good place.

If you can't take the boys in, then I'm not sure what this world is coming to. :xZ!o:

Ummmmm and remind me to give you the number of a good Divorce Attorney if you go into the "Naughty Room." :69:

I've never been, but I really, really need to visit Vegas and see what I'm missing.

Craps has the best odds. If you like roulette, try the Monte Carlo. The have much better odds there. They use "Monte Carlo rules" there (only one "0", no "00"). Personally, I like Blackjack.

That would be swell to play craps and roulette, if I only knew the rules of engagement. Don't want to look like a noob when I walk up to a table and say, "Uhm, now what?"

Dave they have "noob" courses in some of the casinos, like in the morning, to teach you how to play certain games. If you get a patient dealer, most will help you out. But I hear ya on feeling like a noob....I stick to blackjack myself. Of course and the slots :) I love the slots! Won $1800 last time we were in Vegas on the $5 slots

Wow, if I could win $1800 from a mindless game, I'd have to splurge on something.

I don't think I'll be up that early to learn a new game. However, if I have time I'll give it a try. More than likely, I'll end up entertained moreso during the night after dinner.

I've decided that I'm going to continue the tradition of getting each tattoo in a different city. So next week, I will be sporting a new one. Any suggestions on shops that do artwork with walking distance of the Strip?
