I'll take on anybody

So I'm going to work today, mindless of the idiots surrounding me, still trying to focus, when I come to the bottom of an offramp and sit next to an old conversion van (bumper sticker proclaimed, 'If the van's a rockin', don't come a-knockin'). :headshake:

We both make a left turn at the light, and I notice that he takes it a little aggressively. I don't think it's a big deal since some people always think they should be in front, especially in front of an import. Next light is red for the longest time (we still haven't perfected the timing of lights with the new light rail system). I'm paying more attention now, but it's to the cross-traffic and wondering who's going to blow the red light. All of a sudden, mine turns green (surprise) and the van takes off. Mind you these things have a V8 in them, so it looked quick because I was sitting still. :lame:

Next light I pull up to the crosswalk line and turn off VDC. His front bumper is up to my door. I'm still not sure if this is what I think it is or if he's in a rush to get to work. Again, he takes off and catches me off guard, but I quickly catch up to him after my slick tires stop spinning. His front end actually looked like it lifted from him flooring it when he launched, so I knew the game was on.

Okay, third light is red and he rolls up slowly next to me, and again his bumper is at my door. I know it's on this time. I let it idle, poised to prevent my tires from spinning, light turns green, and he's off! I ease out of first, get to the speed and rpm I want, and then really give her the gas. At this point, he was about 1.5 to 2 car lengths ahead of me when the Z kicked in and took off like a rocket.

I passed him just as I was shifting at redline into second gear. I let off after I was about 4 car lengths ahead of him and got in his lane to make my turn to the parking lot.

Needless to say, I woke up quickly after that and had a nice spring to my step. That was my 'coffee' for the morning. :shiftdrive:

Haha....you bada$$! :)
Come to think of it, I think this guy thought I was going to cut him off to get in the left turning lane into NWA HQ. I drive this route everyday and see ppl jockeying for position, cutting each other off, and speeding across 3 lanes just to get into those turn lanes. Funny thing is I was in the far right lane the whole time.

You'd be amazed at what I see around 494 and airport exits during rush hour traffic. There are some serious road rage issues around Bloomington.
Oh man, I agree. I had to drop off my girl at the airport last Sunday and I thought people driving around there had lost their minds.
Dave that is GREAT! hahahahah

This morning at a stop light, there was one of those new caddys infront of me, and a Honda full sized SUV beside him at the light, both first in line. Light turns green and SUV dude FLOORS it.........Caddy drive FLOORS it (smoke coughing out of exhaust..........) SUV won and got to be first after the lanes merged........:lame: that was hella funny to watch!!!! :rolf:
I guess the motto should be, "Drive it like you're racing."

I'm always weaving in and out of traffic because ppl are so clueless and don't pay attention. I like to think of it as a fish swimming through a coral reef.
Last night on the way home from work, I'm sitting first at the light on the corner of Walton Blvd and 8th street (in front of Wal-Mart HQ).
This punk kid in a riced-up Cavalier pulls up and revs the engine. I had a bad day, so I revved back.
I turn off the VDC, and get my revs up. When the light turns green, I slam on the BRAKE and let the clutch out.
The Z stalls and the Cavalier takes off. Of course the bubba in the 72 F150 blasts his horn at me.
Son of a b***h!!! I've had my Z for 14 months, and I've been driving stick since I was 16, and I've never done that before.
Ha ha rookie!

That's "Drive it like ya STOLE it", officer...

Just goes to prove every car's a hotrod in someone's MIND...

LMAO I bet you were pissed! There have been times when I have misshifted second and it pisses me off so much...
I bet that was one of those Blastrovans.... Quick little critters

I've realized no amount of coffee in this world can wake you up quite like a morning race.

Fleshrot, that story cracked me up! I guess we should be lucky that we have a brake pedal and a gas pedal. In some cars it doesn't matter which pedal you push as the same result occurs.

So true...

..
I have yet to get a light with someone who actually wanted to race me. I used to get raced more in my 300zx than compared to my 350z. I remember one of the best ones I had was a 3 lane highway that came to two lanes and I was alongside this mom in a minivan. Well when the light turned green, she floored it and I was like sh!t, so I floored it and caught up to her but I freaking missed fourth gear and I had to just barely catch her before my lane closed, fortunately I ended up getting in front of her just in time.

So for all of you that think moms in minivans can't put up a challenge, don't be too quick in your judgement.
I got beat by a soccer mom in a turbod Volvo SW when I had my 300ZX. I was so depressed that I sold it and bought an '89 Mustang GT. What a mistake. Now I'm happy with 'Monica.'
Soccer moms are the worst! All that internalized aggression (screaming kids, lost career, etc) is manifested in road rage. Nothing scares me more than an H2 with 5 kids jumping around in the back. It's like a time bomb. Sooner or later, that H2 is going to drive over the top of me.

Zxrage - I've been dying to ask. Who's the hottie leaving hand prints on your CF hood?

The hottie was some girl passing me by at the NOPI Tuner show at ATCO Raceway last year. DaKing350z and I were the only ones there with the only 350Zs there and we were just hanging around our cars when the oppurtunity presented itself. I realized that I could get a nice photo op and I asked her to pose on my car which she was very willing to do. Here is another pic of her, but this is a different position.
