I have a source that said they would consider it if there was a huge demand for it.

So report here if you are honestly interested in getting one if the results and price are fair.

Once I get a list, i'll send them a reply and see what they think.

The company is reputable with Subaru's and wanted to stick to Subaru's, but like I said, if there is a huge demand, they would seriously consider it.

Further specifying is required.
Laptop capability? User able to adjust settings on their own (from a list of pre-tuned maps, etc.)? Estimated price? What kind of gain could we see? What kind of time frame until this will be ready to sell?

KWIKZ (2005, track, 6 speed $899-999)
jcn30127 (2004 6mt, price expected=open, concerns/comments/questions=at least 2 maps available/switchable)
DayBlueZ (2004 5AT, $1,000 , will we be able to control it? or will it control us? will it have memory for different settings?)
zillinois (2003 6MT, $800-1,200 , depending on functionality)
kpiskin (2003 Touring 5AT, $400-500, want ECU automatically adjust to mods as they come (eg. plenum, pop charger, cats, exhaust etc.) without slowly losing power and requiring a reset of the ECU. I don't need any real level of control, but would want to take advantage of non-FI mods.)

Does this look good so far?

syf0n (2003 6MT, $600-1200 , I'm very interested in this if, as you stated, it does a better job than what is already out there and doesn't qualify as highway robbery in the payment department. There are a lot of variables in regards to cost since the end product may or may not have a number of features, hence my price range being so broad. I am speaking of things like laptop compatibility/tunability, etc.)

WHOZNXT [350ZMotoring] (year?, transmission?, $1,000+ depending on results)
CAPTJ3 [350ZMotoring] (year?, transmission?, price range?, Would this ECU be able to work with a TT setup? How would they go about doing this map or maf based?)

I would be interested if I knew more details (I have not yet read the threads at the other sites).

For example, who is the vendor? How does this item work, stand-alone, piggy back?

I would buy it if the following is true:
-Piggy back
-Ability for multiple maps
-Ability to tune for 93, 94, or 100 race octane
-Ability for full timing control
-Does not interfere with knock retardation
-Is fully tested and proven.

That last point is imporant. I would be a late adopter if the item is proven. If it is not, I would not buy it at all.

What I would pay depends on performance and how proven the tech and gains are. It could vary from $0 to over $1000.

I don't want to release the name of the vendor just yet. Standalone.

The drawbacks of the current standalones are you usually lose some important (to some people, especially daily drivers) features.

Headers cost at least that much and give as much gain. I wouldn't pay more than $600 for a standalone ECU that gives moderate gains.

Wouldn't that mean that our Z's are tweaked out already? While those Subs are restricted from the factory?

I still think a supercharger at stock boost would be a nice investment for a daily driver.

Getting stingy with the funds? JK, remember a stand alone ecu isn't just about gains. It's about have more control over your car. EI, rev limiter, speed restrictor, a/f maps, etc.

BTW, 305ZTT I have an '04 6spd.

Bah, every car has potential! No car is completely tweaked out (at least I hope not!!)

I totally agree about the SC thing.. The Stillen SC just dropped down to $3500 for the kit.. and its probably novice-level installation. Once it gets cheaper, that may just be the way to go for an additional 80hp with minimal wear on the engine.

 I know, I know, the ECU should do more than give gains. I was thinking of different mods on any Z and how the ECU will affect performance based on those mods. I'm definitely interested in raising the limiter and changing other aspects of the car's brains.

Right, and most likely the advanced control will enable you to get the gains you SHOULD be getting from parts.

Price range estimate would be $1,000-4,000.

Guys, if I don't get a response from the company on Monday, i'm going to have to call this thing off. I'm not sure if they weren't serious (even though they said they were) or if the customer rep. is trying to ask the owner of the company sometime. I have no idea, but I do know that they haven't replied after the first reply.

If anyone wants to take over this thing PM me and i'll tell you the company and give you the website.

Wait until Tuesday before you do that though.
