Don't do it. You don't want to have to live month-to-month wondering if you've got enough to eat or pay for your car insurance. Worst thing you could do is ruin your credit rating early on, or build up a huge credit card debt paying for everything. It's just not worth it. If you want to know what payments are, there are a lot of calculators out there (Yahoo Autos has one) to work it out.

$5K down and payments are $519/month. Insurance roughly $100/mo (we pay quarterly). Married/dual income helps out! LOL
Two incomes, cheap house pmt., the desire to drive something I didn't have to build myself!

(B.Y.O. -build your own- is how I made it through the 'lean' years...)
Decent job, single, 25 years old, not many other expenses, house I am living in given to me
That why i bought a honda hahahahaha.
First of all, I agree with Dr. Z. Wait till you graduate and you can buy one more comfortably. There is no need to rush if you already have a car. Anyway, I'm a DINK (Double Income No Kids) and that really helps, but I got a really good deal on mine. No down payment and pay $473.78 (Silverstone Touring, six speed manual trans., burnt orange leather seats). I also have an awesome coverage with a really good price. For a 2003 Volvo S60 T5 (wifey's) and my Z, I pay 100 per month (Geico).

Anyway, just wait and when you are ready don't go out and buy the first thing you see. I waited about 4 months looking for the right deal for me and did a lot of research.

Good luck in school. I know it's hard since I just graduated (a 23 year old engineer).

24yr old software developer. I dropped $7K (sold my '01 prelude) down with $450 payment + $140 insurance per month.

I also agree with Dr. Z. I was a full time student when I bought my prelude and I was basically living paycheck to paycheck. That wasn't fun at all. Just wait till you graduate... you'll have plenty of time (and money) to get nice ride when you're down with school.
As much as you want a new Z, wait until you get a stable job and not in school. For many of us, we all have graduated from school, got job, and some married. Until I got this new job, or even few month in to it, I wonder even I could afford new Z or other new car for long time. I maybe young as you are (23), but take our words, don't rush your self.

$20K down (help from my parents)
, and $210 per month, and Insurance roughly $300/6 months (Full Coverage)with my parents family plan.

How the **** did you pull that off!?! More than 60months?
base model, purchased sticker price, $422 a month with extended 75,000 mile ground-up warranty. Insurance runs me about $160 a month for full coverage on my own plan with state farm. Bought the car when I was 20 just turning 21. 22 now and trying to keep myself from speeding as I like to have the low insurance rate for my age group. I'm on the 5 yr plan for paying it off to keep the payments reasonable and hoping at starting to do double payments within a year.
41 year old (single always/no kids ever) engineer. Traded-in my '96 Camaro SS and wrote a check for 24K. Insurance (in good old boring Delaware) is about $800/year. One of the reasons I bought the ('03 Performance) Z is its bargain price.
Again, how did you guys get such low payments with no down pymt, esp paying sticker? I got a decent interest rate and still I am paying $600/mo.

Of course, i had like $3000 neg equity in my last car, but would that make a $150+/mo difference?
My touring cost $26200 before everything. No money down and my payment is about $550/mo. Great rate, too.

What totally blows is that we pay sales tax on a used car, even though it's already been paid to the state.

$36200??
Hey Dinoz..I am in Delaware too!

The payment was a little hard to swallow the day that I bought it but OMG I would do it over and over for this car....You definitly dont want to strap yourself just for the car. I put $10k down and $580/mnth..

Nope, asking price was $26200. When I said no, they placed it online for almost $28k. A few days later, they called me back and offered it to me for the old price. By then, I realized that it was a decent deal and decided to take it.
