aaaahh yes. thanks for this thread. the Z-Tune R34 is one of the most awesome roadcars ever built. it 700% carries forward the GTR heritage and pride as a symbol of power and respect and design excellence.
that is intoxicating to watch. we get to take a whole lap around the nurburgring. super nice.
R34 V Spec II NUR held the fastest lap time for a production car at the Nurburgring at 7:52, seven seconds quicker than the best R33. but i don't know the year. that time has probably been superceded by now.
Ring laptimes are often "mysterious" if you know what i mean ;)

waitin prolly meant that the Z06 ran 4 sec slower, whatever the faster time was. so if the V-Spec did 7:52, the Z06 did it approx in 7:56.
either you're source is incorrect. or the idea that the Z06 did it 4 sec slower than the V-Spec is incorrect. or the time i sourced is incorrect. but my post is corroborated elsewhere. so who knows. Ring times are too often cited incorrectly as rumor, or just unknown. it is very likely the Corvette did it faster because that car is a good deal lighter than the R34 GTR. one of the supreme disadvantages of the GTR has been it's weight.

something else to note, as i reiterate this schtick here: if Lotus is also developing, at least heavily influencing, the chassis/monocoque (as this is part of the suspension system, really), the GTR will be feather-light, relatively speaking. perhaps lighter than the 350Z. this should take care of the Z06.
^^^yes, absolutely, i'd love the GTR no matter what too. i'm not really worried whatsoever about Corvette. i never have been, despite it's successful foray into LeMans, Rolex, and Sebring, i'm more vigilant of what Porsche, Ferrari, and Aston Martin have been turning out lately. as advanced and cool as the Corvette is, it's seemingly out of it's depth among these cars, but, actually, upon closer examination is a formidable track weapon nonetheless. Corvette runs with the best of them. but the GTR will supercede the C6R/Z06, certainly.

*in due respect, please consider Corvette's recent racing history. it's legit and noteworthy:

"The number of consecutive Series wins in GT1 for Olivier Beretta and Oliver Gavin in Corvette Racing's No. 4 Corvette C6.R. The defending class champions won the last five Series events of 2005 (not including a second straight win at Le Mans) before triumphing at Sebring (with Jan Magnussen) by a lap over Aston Martin Racing's No. 009 Aston Martin DBR9."

"The number of career victories in the American Le Mans Series for Beretta. The three-time season champion moved past Corvette Racing teammates Johnny O'Connell and Ron Fellows.

"Each time I win a race with Corvette Racing, I always think, wow that was a good one!" Beretta said. "It looks like every time we go to a race that we need to win, it is another fantastic victory."

...The number of victories by Corvette Racing in the Series. Alex Job Racing is second with 36."

welp, i don't see a GTR anywhere on the list faster than 8:00mn. but i do see Corvette C6 at 7:56. i cited 2 sources below on the last post to corroborate this. so the info i had about the V-Spec II Nur GTR34 must be heresay or bogus, too.

what i don't understand is that being that the GTR34 V-Spec II "Nur" is deliberately spec'd and named as a tribute and homage to the Nurburgring, why are it's laptimes either not listed officially, or mysterious? rather, how many "official" lists are there, then? and where are they? you'd think that car would wear it's laptimes on it's sleeve. but it doesn't apparently. and why is there no Z-Tune Nurburgring time? they didn't run that thing around the 'Ring, too? almost certainly with the right driver, it would break the 8:00 barrier.

the dominant cars are clearly Porsche and Ferrari.
thanks, scathing, for that bit of info. i was not fully clear about the Nur, then, nor the N1 GTR. coolness. i learn something new every day.

but how about lap times for them? and the Z-Tune? you cannot tell me such times do not exist. they **** well ran the Z-Tune there. any clues?
what do you mean? which element? the pinched vent thing at the corner? i don't see that on the Z.
i must be missing something because i see no such pinched vent like things on the stock Z.
