Hi guys

Just sold some things on ebay and have a couple hundred bucks in my paypal account itching to be spent

Im deciding whether to go for a maxground kit from
Z-Enterprises, or a lightweight pulley from KJRPerformance

Im a little skeptical that speaker wire in the engine bay can make a difference, and changing the pulley (although not underdriven like UR) sounds like a mechanical failure waiting to happen

Have any Aussies fitted any of these mods, and can offer me any advice or ease my concerns :shiftdrive:

yeah i think ill make my own grounding kit with the monster cable speaker wire offcuts from my system

re the pulley, being lighter it would make the car rev quicker so if anything it should give more response in gear and a faster acceleration at high revs

this is thereotical, which is why id like to hear from other Aussies who've fitted it

i do like the leather stitched armrests on the doors, i do want to do that, just in black though, with a layer of foam underneath to make them soft. I also want to carpet the lower door panel like the 911s, ill do that when the ICE is being installed. Ill have 3 weeks with nothing to do

I think its best to do your mods in groups so you get noticable results otherwise whats the point of a performance mod you cant feel. I have the UR Pulleys, by themselves you will not feel them but when combined with other mods you can notice a difference. Grouping them would be even more relevant to you as your pulleys arent underdriving anything so they would be even less noticable.

I would combine a few cheaper mods that will work well together. ie. K&N Filter, Air Duct, Manifold Spacer and the pulleys.

If you dont have an exhaust yet, I would do that first or at the same time. Our Au spec exhaust is restrictive and will hamper your results with the above mods.

thanks for the input mchap, well put together

i do want to fit an exhaust. I really love the sound of the Nismo Exhaust. If the APS sounds like that, ill go for the APS, if not ill look into shipping over the Nismo

but ur right, ill wait till i do the exhaust then fit the pulleys then, theyre not going anywhere

i have the intake to fit this weekend, want it more for the sound though then the performance. But like u said, once i get the exhaust happening, it should tie in nicely

The grounding kit won't really do that much, from what people have said.

Also, I wouldn't go around paying the USD$120+ that they're charging, when you can go to Jaycar and buy your own wire (that admittedly isn't as ricey neon) for a couple of dollars.

I'm yet to install the grounding kit malcolm sent me (thanks again, champ!). When I have time to fiddle I'll do it, but since the performance increase is marginal I'm not hurrying to do it.

Sam,

Tell you the truth... Nismo exhaust is VERY freaking loud... and I don't think you will like it to be honest.... APS exhaust is more suitable for ya if you like the european sound (hope you know what I meant)... Nismo exhaust is louder than what you can imagine... and it drones too when you are cruising.... you should ask DavidM, he drove my car with nismo exhaust and the headers.... he lost all his senses.... hahahha... I quite like the APS exhaust note (from DavidC's car).... and if you want to compare APS or Nismo... just think about a modify european car and a modified japanese car exhaust sounds in person... you will get what I mean!

and I would say APS exhaust provides far better gain than nismo piece and it can be purchased locally.... I paid heaps for the nismo exhaust especially for the shipping (you will not believe how large the box is and how heavy the exhaust pipes are)... so my suggestion will be APS product especially if you are planning to go for APS TT later down the track...

hope that helps!

cheers,

richie

ps. if you want the metallic sound from the exhaust... go for titanium piece.... you can lose a few kgs from those light weight exhaust.... Yun's exhaust sounds nice and the Amuse exhaust sounds even better IMO...

i read Fuji make the Nismo exhaust, but their own Stainless Steel exhaust is quieter, so if anything im now looking at the Fuji SS + Y-Pipe, its more expensive though than the Nismo. I prefer the Alfa V6 style engine note, deep down low but raspy up top. The Fuji Ti is a little too tinny for my liking, it lacks the bassy tone i want.

From what ive read, the APS exhaust sounds a bit flat, but i have yet to hear even a decent sound clip of it. The videos Mike made are ok, but he didnt rev the car high enough, in one clip u can just hear the exhaust note start to change but then he backed off the throttle

Richie, you and Yun know more about the different exhausts than i do, so recommend me something and ill go for it

I want to do my exhaust around November/December, so theres still plenty time to shop around

Sam,

I think what Bill shows there is the best out of all though... it sounds really tough and also gives you this type of ferrari raspy sound at the higher rpm range.... I don't know if anyone has the sound clip of the amuse exhaust though... I heard that way way back before and it sounds SOOO NICE! and looks really elegant too! If Ferrari exhaust sound is what you are after (raspy at the higher rpm range), I believe Amuse TI exhaust will be your best choice so far...

cheers,

richie

Here is APS exhaust (5MB).

<<Link is fixed>>

I love the sound of this exhaust. Should you ever wish to go turbo, u save some money, as APS turbo uses this exhaust ...

Jager the link is broken dude

Zless id love to hear ur thoughts on this mod. I will probably do this mod in combination with the motordyne 1/4 spacer. They're pretty affordable mods for me atm

Btw, just fitted my K&N Typhoon, it sounds fantastic but was one **** of a job, lets just say US and AUS cars are very different. Ill do a writeup in a couple days when i get some other underbonnet goodies fitted

From all the exhaust that I've heard, amuse, hi-tech, aps; amuse sounds by far the best. It also looks the best, but the price isn't very wallet friendly.

To remove the blue, Any thoughts? Seen any bikes with polished Titanium parts?

It should be possible, but can you do it without removing metal?
