Got my car back with the new 2005 gearbox. Much better!! Still a little notchy but huge improvement. Took 5 weeks but as was in USA didn't matter too much. What did matter was 14 cm X 2 cm scratch on the front bumper.....After some arguing it has been agreed that they did the damage and will fix. "sigh". I went over the car with the service manager before they did the work. I'm going to get a diagram and get them to sign off in future.

On the up side the rattles have gone - they took the dash apart and tightened everything. I honestly think this is the first time the car is rattle free - how it should have been from the factory.

All that is left is the tailgate - the risers don't hold it up (they say the wing causes this - rubbish) and it still does not open when the button is pressed. If I can fix this I will have the car I expected (or something close) when I took delivery. Pity its taken about 3 months off the road and innumerable visits to get right. Just goes to show you have to fight for the fixes. Maybe the letter to Nissan should be revived?

glad to hear that your gearbox is fixed and that they will take care of the scratch.

they are correct, the JDM wing is to heavy for the stock risers, you have 2 options, there are OEM risers that are heavier duty or you can take the weight out under the plastic finisher on the underside of the hatch.

there is also anther thread where you can unscrew the black rubber spring, pull it apart, put 2 pennies in it, push back together and then reinstall (do both sides)

good luck.

Thanks for that - I didn't know about the weight - and since I have a wallet full of US pennies I'm going to do that today. I've just got back from your neck of the woods - stayed in NY the past week and RI Newport. Driving in NY is the pits - NJ was not too bad tho. They had a computer malfunction the day we came back from RI and the lights all over NY were playing up. Sat in traffic jams that make ours look like kid stuff. At least your cops dont seem to care aboout speeding - we travelled at about 80 to 90 MPH on the freeways and people still passed us. Don't like the concrete joiners tho.
