So I'm sure I'm not the only person, but my splash shield has now eventually torn off the front bumper(bumper tabs broke holding it) and not only came off but got shaved down on the road from hanging(oops!).

So my question(s) stand(s):

Can I just remove the front splash shield(I know I can physically)? What benefit does it have and will I put my car in any danger by not having it on? I'm planning on getting an aftermarket bumper soon too... so I'm not TERRIBLY worried about the bottom of the bumper damage just yet....

Ideas? Thoughts? Opinions?

It's not REALLY that mendable... it's pretty messed up. Sure I can replace it, but I don't have a real way to mount it back to the front bumper... all the tabs are broken.. let me see if I can upload a pic of what I mean...

Anyone have any other opinions/thoughts based on that pic? Most of the tabs look like that :(

I drove my car for about a year without the front splash shield and my car still runs. I did eventually buy a new one.

No splash shield means that the bottom of the engine gets dirtier, which can make diagnosing faults a bit harder. It also increases aerodynamic drag, but unless you're doing off-street work or constantly on the highway you'll hardly notice.

I'd say to wait until you get your new bumper, and then do it all at once. What front bar are you getting? Some have optional front under trays, such as the Powerhouse Amuse kit. Alternatively, there are aluminium front under trays like the ARC/ZSpeed, and Top Secret does a front splitter with under tray as well, but that would probably need a stock front bar.
