Hey guys, just wondering what kind of gains should I expect with an Engine Management System on a VQ35HR with HFC, Exhaust and drop in filter? I mean, not from stock to that but after having the bolt ons then tuning.

im very curious about this as well. my best guess would be 15 to 20 hp. i say this because i previously had an 03 with full bolt-ons , i had it dynoed then tunned then dynoed again all in the same day and i gained 19 rwhp just from tunning
im waiting to get mine tunned im just waiting for the guys at uprev to finish with their r and d they said they will be able to around december

Cobb Tuning has a their AccessPORT for the HR here
Here are the gains you should receive per map
Retails for $695 and they supply the maps for free (Stock, Stage1, Stage2, Stage2+, Valet, Anti-Theft)
Okay, thank's for the info! After seeing the videos I was left with a question.. can I take this to a professional tuner and have them tune my car and make their own maps in this systems?

Also, are there any EMS that could be plugged to an indash radio?

i don't see why you couldn't take it to a shop and have them setup a custom map for you since it gives you the option for this

Lol... well... you see... when I was younger I watched fast and the furious and I thought it was cool how the Brian saw the levels of his nitrous and everything that was going on within the engine on his computer so I was wondering if I could have the info display on the screen or at least switch through the maps through the touch screen radio.....

this is pritty much just a fantasy.. I don't have a carputer.

the Camp2 allows you to moniter various ecu parameters on an aftermarket LCD. No map switching via a touch screen though- not to mention that for NA use, there really is no purpose to map switching at all unless you have some wild compression build

lol! That's neat! I was thinking about map switching for fuel economy..? you think pointless?

I'm a sceptical about reflashing because you only have one map.. I really don't know how this works but I don't want my car to be in race mode all the time..

As of next week my mods are:
Injen Cold-Air Intake
Berk High Flow Cats
Borla TD Exhaust
JWT Clutch/Flywheel

Cobb sells their AccessTUNER Pro software to performance shops so that they can create a "Protuned" map made specifically for your car (the Protuned map only works with the Cobb AccessPORT).
I think the Protune costs around $150 per map (don't quote me on that).

I would be careful with getting an AP. I tried it on My 06 and had nothing but problems with Cobb. First off when I went to GRD a local tuning shop in Chicago, and they plugged it in it wouldnt read the ECU map. So GRD called Cobb and they said send a copy of my ECU to them and they would make a patch for it. Well two weeks later I went back and they said they made the updates and we tried it again and it didnt work, and then GRD reemed them because it was an hour ride each way for me and I made the trip several times and they didnt do anything. Well that is my Cobb tuning Rant hope you have better luck with them just watch out.
