Yeah Steveaustin,
4th gear in the auto is 1:1

The scale in the dyno chart is just a little skewey! Your estimation of between 6100 and 6200 rpm is much closer to the actual. Must have entered wrong parameters when dyno'd.

The peak power figure should still be fairly accurate though.

Nismo S1 VTC units
Nismo S1 Con-rod bolts

and the speed recorded was 208.5km/h. Is someone cleverer than me able to work out my revs from this info??

The gearing for the auto 350Z should be (@ 7,000rpm):
- 1st gear = 68kph
- 2nd gear = 107kph
- 3rd gear = 165kph
- 4th gear = 243kph
- 5th gear = 306kph

So at 208.5kph in 4th gear you should be exactly at 6,000rpm.

Thanks David - 6,000RPM sounds a lot more realistic

OK, im a little worried now. I dyno'd mine and got 198rwhp, which works out to 148kW. And thats pretty disgusting for a Manual Track Z with Hi-Tech Exhaust and K&N pod air filter. Thats less than what i expected stock.

I have some suspisions it may be the pod filter, it hisses alot so im thinking it maybe restrictive, any thoughts?

Is there any way i can test to see if the pod is more restrictive than the stock box without a dyno? :banghead:

Did you do a base dyno? If you didn't then the number you got is meaningless since you cannot compare numbers from different dynos. They all give different numbers. Also are you running 19" wheels by any chance? And just because the air filter is making a lot of noise it doesn't mean it's restrictive, it's the otherway around. You restrict the intake to make less noise.

Mods -

APS Exhaust
POP Charger
Unichip

[attachmentid=8539]

Someone said it should be more, except I am running 19" wheels ???

Can somebody please enlighten me as to why would affect the kW reading ???

I would imagine the larger the wheel, the greater the rotational mass; the greater the rotational mass, the more power lost turning the wheel

Jagermeister - that seems like quite a nice gain in power. What was your baseline power reading prior to mods?

cool mate.... you gained about 10rwKW with the exhaust, filter and the unichip only.... I think the wheels will not affect the GAIN of the power though since those 2 runs were all made with the same wheels, am I correct?!

Normally you compare the gains only to other dyno charts' gains as the dyno pulls weren't done on the same day on the same dyno machine with the same conditions... just like my 195rwKW on the 1st dyno only showed 180rwKW on nizpro's dyno.... they are actually quite different... and what's important is the gain between the baseline and the final output on the same dyno machine under the same condition... :)

cheers,

Was out with my boss today who was having his Clubsport tuned. Whilst we were there they put his car on the dyno. He was producing 260kw @ crank and 243kw @ the rear wheels (VY Series II "285"). Funnily enough the tuner said they were good numbers for his car as most of them produce 250-255 at the crank (on his dyno that is)

As we were there I took the opportunity to put the Z on the dyno to see what the numbers looked like (was 33 degrees at the time).

My only engine mods are a JWT Popcharger and Kinetix V4 plenum. Until I compared my outputs to everyone else's I was a bit disappointed. My chart showed 190.1kw at the crank and 163.3kw at the wheels. The surprise for me was that this was acheived at 7,110RPM !!!!

I thought for ease of future reference I would also include the dyno results for other Aussie members with their mods.

Maybe the mods would be nice enough to pin this post??? And no, I'm not trying to start a pissing contest.
