Hi guys

Just dropped off my car at the audio shop this morning for my custom stereo install to begin being built. Sat with the installer for a couple hours to go through everything.

I will update this thread as it gets built. I plan on visiting the audio shop every couple days and will take plenty of pics

This is the list of components going in the car......

Clarion VRX935VD
Clarion DVH920 DTS/Dolby Processor
Clario TV Tuner
Clarion SRK5 Centre Channel Speaker
Custom Metra Dash Kit
JBL GTi 6.5" front speakers
JBL Power 6.5" rear speakers
Alpine Type X 10" Sub
JBL 80.4 Amp
JBL 320.2 Amp
JBL 80.2 Amp
B-Quiet Insulation
Custom Unilimted Tuning LED Door Sills + Strut Brace Cover

Im a bit concerned as its going to be a huge install, a little nervous about stripping the car and that they dont damage any of the interior plastics. They do all the Rockford, MB, Clarion, Hertz, Orion, etc show cars so i can take comfort knowing that

They parked the car at the back of the shop and put a cover over it. They have drop sheets theyll line along the boot so as to not scratch the paint leaning inside

Next visit will be Wednesday and im told the car will be stripped and the box started

All i need to find now is orange led tubes as no one sells them here in Aus. Im thinking of maybe lighting the box and amp rack with white led instead

thanks guys

the nervousness has subsided and im really excited to see how it all looks. I had a similar DVD/TV/Dolby 5.1 setup in my last car, but ive always wanted a nice looking boot install, and the Z is just crying for one with that strut brace on display

itll be around 3 weeks before its finished im told

Update:

Went past the audio shop today and theyve already gotten stuck into it.

Theyve removed all the boot trim, percel shelf, doors and centre console, layed the B-Quiet Ultimate sound deadening and ran the power and RCA wires. The installer has even started making my custom dash kit for the centre channel, it looks HOT!!! He's curved the bottom piece and it just looks so high end

But we have a problem, the magnets of my JBL GTi front speakers are just too big, they dont curve in like a normal speaker, but are the same size as the front of the speaker, so it hits the window inside the door. To fit a larger enough spacer means the door trim wont go back on, and even when mounted at an angle it still hits the glass. Now we could either build ugly pods for the doors or a better solution, put the GTi's in the back and put a set of MB Quart Q-Lines up front.......easy!! :shiftdrive:

Here's some pics......

hahaha not sure what happened there dude, we just had enough with the 50 sq ft roll....that includes everything in the pics, and underneath the hatch

the sub box will be glassed on both sides with just the edge of the front trimmed in black vinyl. When its ready to be covered, im going to go with my installer to the trimmer and pick a vinyl which best matches the grain and color of the stock plastic. Inside the box will be painted gloss silver with orange leds

i suggested that when trying to fit the JBLs, but he said not only will u be rubbing the grille getting on/off the accelerator because of the depth of the speakers, but everytime u have a passenger the sound will be all muddled from them covering the speakers with their feet, let alone my gf always putting her bag down on the floor

he drilled through the stock speaker grille to open up all of the holes that were thoughtfully plastic'd over by Nissan's lame injection moulding

totally forgot you're in australia. there are a bunch of people who have the kick panels over here in the states. i wouldn't think it would be that much different.

the kick panel idea will sort the speaker fit issue, but they only work when ur not sitting in the car or driving it. My kick panel is already getting scratches in it from my shoes, let alone if i bring it out another 15-20cm, its just not practical imo

Just picked up my custom leather armrests from the trimmer

Black leather with orange stitching to match the seats, and foam padded to make them a bit more elbow friendly

some more goodies arrived today.....

my LED door sills and hatch cover from unlimited tuning. Great seller, tracking number provided and only took 5 days to come from US

i went past the audio shop to drop these off, dry fit them and they actually look quite good in chrome, it breaks up the silver nicely, so undecided whether im going to paint these flat silver or not

there is a false floor in the car and the sub box is still being built. Ill post some pics when the box and amp rack is complete and in the car
