Hey there. I'm really not sure where this topic actually belongs to, but here it goes...Can I add cruise control to my Base 350Z? While I'm at it, can the racing pedals as well as the HID's be added too?

Yeah, I'm not quite sure where to add this either because the parts you're talking about are so different. But anyway, HIDs can definitely be added, the pedals too. As far as the cruise control goes, I don't think you can. I don't think the Base ECU can work with it, but I could be wrong. I've never really looked into it myself because I want to do the opposite of you, take the cruise control OUT of my Enthusiast

Thanks for the quick reply. What's the reason behind you wanting to get rid of your cruise control, if you don't mind me asking? When I got my car, I preferred the car's lack of Traction Control and VDC, since I take my car to the track on the weekends. I found that the VDC and Traction control slowed my time when I drove a friend's Z. Cruise control though is somewhat nice to have. Thanks again.

Might possibly go under Modifications - Electronics, or maybe Problems & Solutions?

As for cruise control, I recall a thread from way back talking about the same thing. I think it was a hot topic for a while.

I use cruise once in a great while, but traffic around here doesn't allow for it much. I think I've been on one road trip and used it.

My reasoning is that I never use it, nor will I ever use it. And so I figure it's dead weight (extremely minimal, I know). I wanted the traction control because at the time the Z was going to be my daily driver. The dealer did, however, want to sell me a Base, and they were going to put the pedals in for free, which was cool. But I passed on that deal.

Just purchased an '04 Base. Dealer said the 350Z cruise control would be too cost prohibited, but that an after market cruise could be installed, but wouldn't be a clean install. BTW. they wanted $1500 + labor for the HID upgrade. Yikes!!!

Dave (Dave079) and I both installed Brightstar 5000k HID kits on our Base Zs for about $370. I wrote a How-To on the How-To part linked on the 350z-tech homepage. It was very easy.

angelo, for the cruise control to work, you'd need to buy the switch that goes into the steering wheel (about $40), the brake control switch (goes on brake pedal, knows when you're braking so turns off cruise control), and a new ECU (since the Base model doesn't have the software). It would cost too much and I don't think it's worth it.
